Description

A plan hatched and executed. Panel layout was a bit inspired. I knew I wanted a nice narrow one for the sneak away. Thought of having a pair of panels to fill the rest of the page, but this ended up looking better. I like the narrower focus of it, and the space it takes on the page. And this means, finally, on page ten we should be meeting The Princess. (I think. I mean, at this point I'm kinda flying by the seat of my pants!) It's been an interesting process, not entirely unlike novel writing. I write down some ideas and then go at it. Like, I knew I wanted to have some panels of The Knight looking around the market. Then it made sense to add Kyna to those panels. Then it made sense that Kyna would talk some kids into helping her distract the Knight so she can get an audience with the Noble. Where that leads... You'll just have to keep reading! The trickier thing is the Knight's helmet, and I almost removed it from the design. (I have to go back and redo one panel to get rid of the shield she had.) It's metal, so bending the head makes no sense. There's no articulation in it. But then when I was moving around the hands, I realized that didn't have articulation either! So I allowed for a LITTLE head movement in this panel. I also had to get creative because this character (Riven for Genesis 2 Female) comes with LONG fingernails that were warping the gauntlets. There was no shaping preset to get rid of them. So I ended up breaking the parameters on the fingernail length slider in the shaping tab and dialing it back to -1.0. Seemed to do the trick. I'm going to do some character treatments, i think, to introduce them all. Kinda like how you see in Manga and in SOME American comics. I'm also looking at the scope. I originally set out to do a 32-page project, in true Golden Age style. Kinda shot myself in the foot somewhat, because this would have been cool to build up my Instagram with, but... I like it. (Instagram goes square pictures. Would be better just to do all panels as perfect squares. Which actually changes the story pacing quite a bit.) ANYWAYS, we'll see how it goes. Something to work on while getting my latest novel done. Something to keep me going in Daz, to keep practicing GIMP skills, and just to have fun. I like the characters, and I think we're going to have some fun with them going forward. Can't wait to see what trouble she gets up to with The Princess. I cited RodS before for inspiration. I would be amiss if I didn't also cite Isle of Prentil as well. Sadly, I'm not caught up on it, either, but it is a wonderful story, made in Daz studio! (I love the characters!) http://prentil.com/?comic=bk1-ch1-pg1 Actually making one of my own... it's relaxing and a lot of fun. It's nice to have gotten to a point where I can do so, and be tapping into my own story-sense. Now, this evening, I'll probably take a little break. Prepare for novel writing tomorrow. Then back to it! We got Princess's to meet!

Thanks! I hope to work on the next page later today. I got the fussy Fayre dress to work with, but I think it will be worth it once it's done. Thanks for the support.

Thank you. Glad you approve! I was going to do something like 9 panels for this scene, on one page. Ended up with far fewer, but I think it works better.

Quite the clever lass getting the kids involved to distract the knight. I like it! The panel layout is quite interesting, indeed.. That's something I need to explore a bit more. I may have to do some fiddling with that in the next couple pages - there will be a LOT going on...

I am enjoying seeing how you develop this story.

"I originally set out to do a 32-page project...." Good luck with that.... I originally intended 3 chapters @ 10 pages each... LOL

Yeah. I got a hunch it will be a bit longer, lol. But hey. Why not?
