Description
Jack watched the man from the corner of his eye as they walked along the streetlamp-lit road, their shadows preceding as they passed each light. The man’s shoulders were tense and his eyes wary as he kept glancing at Jack.
The man finally exhaled and whispered. “You’re not from around here, are you?”
Jack shook his head. “No.”
“I didn’t think so,” the man replied in a nervous breath. “So, where you from, kid?”
Jack turned his head and wordlessly pointed at the dark sky.
The man nodded. “Oh dear… so space aliens are real?” The man paused and Jack could see the man wanted to say more.
Jack shoved his hands into his coat pockets. “Go ahead, I won’t be mad, everyone asks the same question the first time.”
“Are you going to eat my brains?” the man blurted out.
Jack rolled his eyes and looked up at the man. “That’s Zombies, I’m not a Zombie. Every world I’ve ever visited has the same movie about space zombies coming down and eating everyone’s brains.” The man’s expression was still dubious as Jack continued. “I could barely choke down a Gruggle Worm, I can’t believe you eat those things, I’m definitely not going to eat your brains. I’m just lost, that’s all.”
The man visibly relaxed to Jack's reassuring smile. "Okay, that's a relief. So, I guess you're on... a star trek, and now you're lost in space."
Jack shrugged. "Well, that, and I've been framed, and now I'm one of the most wanted fugitive's in the galaxy."
The man's head jerked around. "You're what!"

Special notes: Woohoo, I fit Star Trek, Lost in Space, and Zombies in the same paragraph! Now that's good writing.
P.S. Zombies from Outer Space is a real movie, look it up. It has a 4.7 out of 10 rating.

lol, I noticed how you worked those shows into one piece, nice job sir. A small vignette, but full, w/ your usual way of packing tension, unforeseen conflict and humor into the same scene. I like how Jack reveals some way-heavy things about his place in the world, in a few comments...and how it defines this short encounter. (We wonder what the man thinks of all this...) And your visual is wonderful: a fine bl-and-wh city image fronted by those two near-silhouettes. The image really suits the scene. Well done as always.
(ps---I think the worse sci fi film I ever saw was "Green Slime". When we called the theater years back to see if there were any seats left for the premier, the manager laughed out loud. "Why're you laughing?" we asked. He said, "I've seen it!")
