I was born and raised in the "South Bay" before it became "Silicon Valley". I went to Cal State Hayward and graduated with a B.A. in Art. I went back to school at the local JC and got my degree in technical illustration. For the next 25 years I worked as an illustrator and graphic artist at a hand-full of high tech companies. As of December 2012 I officially retired from the "Rat Race". I now have time for my art. Even though I have been a member of the Renderosity community for about 3 years, it has been a silent partnership on my part. I have been enjoying everone else's "Labors of Love" without giving anything in return. That will change.

This is colored pencil???!!! I'm blown away, Dave! This is fantastic. I would have thought airbrush or digital at first look. Wow.
Yeah, this "aging" thing is not for the weak... Like you, I keep saying I'm gonna get my colored pencils back out ..... Someday. I still have a ton of them. Years ago, I was so fascinated by artists like Sorayama, Petty, and several others, I even played around with airbrushing for a few years. I never felt like my works were all that good, so I kinda gave it up when I began playing with CG, starting with earlier versions of Photoshop.
Still...... Maybe some day.... 😉

Fantastically beautiful and I feel your back story. Do not look back on the roads you didn't take. Look forward to the journey of the road you are on.

A excellent piece of crayon work, we were perhaps lucky to be around in the age of so many great graphic artists from Frazetta to Vallejo, and people like Romero did newspaper strips, and record sleeves were canvases; those were the days :)

Very fine work with immaculate attention to detail. I seriously thought at first that you used an airbrush.
I understand some artists like Gustave Moreau also left some of their pieces unfinished. Certainly I've got several unfinished pieces, too! Like you I keep telling myself I'll get around to completing them someday, but just feel... so sluggish...
