Science Fact:
In 1981 the Bootes void was discovered. The Bootes void is a spherical area of about 300 million light years. There are very few galaxies visible from inside the Bootes void. It is basically a hole in space. The Bootes void is so large that if the Milky Way was located in the center of the void, we would not have known any other galaxies existed until the 1960’s when better observatories were built.
So, what would make a hole in space like that? Well, there are theories. Let me present the theory I like best. Civilizations are rated according to the energy they are capable of using/harnessing. The rating system is based on a 1, 2, 3 point rating. Unfortunately, we are the only known civilization, so it’s impossible to prove, but here it is. Earth is rated as a .71 based on the energy we are capable of producing globally. When we reach level 1, we will have harnessed the complete power of our sun, possibly through a Dyson Sphere. We will also have complete command over our planet and the solar system. Such as through terra-forming, weather control, space flight, etc. When we reach level 2, we will have control of the energy output of the entire Milky Way, and may even have solved rapid travel between planets. At level 3, we will have command of the total energy output of countless thousands of Galaxies spanning hundreds of millions of light years.
Now here is where it gets interesting. When we reach level 3, we will be harnessing so much energy from so many galaxies, that we will literally be preventing light from leaving the area we control. If you were far enough away and looked back at our empire, it would look like a hole in space.
It would look like the Bootes void.

A universe within our universe. I love stuff like this.. I've seen a few articles about Bootes, and have encountered this theory somewhere before.
Really love the artwork as well.

So are you giving us a hint of where Jack is originally from... ;)
I also think the shape of the universe is more like a soap bubble in the wind, all lumpy and stretched out. Just watch a few Youtube videos of people doing big bubbles outside and you can see some strange shapes. Maybe the void is just twisted away from our pov. Or it could be some aliens that devour everything, you never know... 👽

Looking good!!! I once had a dream where I had to leave the planet I lived on because we were going to collide with another one. It felt absolutely real. Interesting stuff you shared with us there!! Cheers!

Nice. I like your interpretation of the Boötes void; all that nonsense about dark energy, dark matter and cosmic sponges is too far-fetched! 😆

An ancient Hindu scripture (called---real name---the yogavasisthamaharamayana) speaks of a sage finding a rock on a hill. He looks in the rock and sees whole universes inside. Then, in that, he sees more universes, and more in the next, and in the next, etc etc. He concludes, "and that's just one rock of the countless rocks on this mountain, among many mountains before you..." (That's a paraphrase, but close.) Your fantasy re the Boötes void brings that to mind, ie, using so much energy that it sucks up all the energy into itself...And Your image is like a way-station in space, a waiting area (like an urban transit platform), with some great iron girding and so on. And here we see jack as a composite robot, almost, sending his message to the far ranges...A fine image, and fascinating fantasy. I'm impressed with how much science you weave into your work, and I like the variety of stuff you're putting up these days. Wolf I'm at an hour in your gallery and I have to move on...I'll try to return during this visit to RR...but you've got a real gathering of treats here, and I'm glad the muse is working in you, after this last difficult year...
