Description
Hurrying from dawn to the tomb of Jesus, to treat his dead body with aloes, the women, called to carry out this charitable act for the dead, think only at a late point in their journey about who will move the stone, to allow them entry to carry out their ministry.
To their confusion and surprise they find the stone rolled away, and a young man, an angel, a messenger from God, there instead. He asks them not to be afraid, confiding to them that their Master is risen from the dead. Their grief, their confining, constricting, overwhelming grief is suddenly no longer needed, but has been dissipated like the morning mist around their feet. Their Lord has risen as He said he would. The heavy aloes are no longer needed. Taking this new Good News back to the Apostles, Disciples and Mary, Mother of God, is now their mission.
Easter is Now. Rejoice. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
