Description
I'll use his first name, as his family would like the rest to be private. His name was Paul.
Paul passed away this morning from covid. He left behind a wife and 2 incredible children.
He was one of the people who helped my father when my father was passing, 10 years ago. Paul drew my father out when no one else could; gave my father companionship when my father was too afraid to be touched even by his loved ones; and he treated me and my sister like his brother and sister---which in the deepest sense, we were. Tonight that miracle worker passed away.
The photo is near my father's home in Florida. With it I pay homage to this deep, loving soul. The Book of Isaiah---one of Paul's favorites---said, "how beautiful upon the mountain are the feet of the messenger who cries out peace..." Paul walked on air, he made mountains out of simple plains, and he cried out peace everyday...I'll remove this image in a week at the request of his family; but may it, in this short time, be a testament to him and to everyone else who put themselves in the line of danger to save others. Go in peace, sweet friend, and may light be with you forever. (It knows you so well, how could it be anywhere else?) With love and humblest gratitude, mark

What a beautiful tribute to someone who seems to have been an extraordinary soul. Every day I realize anew that the old saying is true. Only the good die young.

A beautiful and sensitive remembrance for your beloved friend, Mark. Paul was certainly the rare friend in his ability to relate to and truly care for others. You and your father were so fortunate to have him in your lives.
Sadly so many wonderful people have been lost to Covid--Covid is the great equalizer, especially now if one hasn't been vaccinated. Folks need to understand we have an obligation to our fellow citizens. There is something called the "Social Contract." Unfortunately so many don't understand this, and, so, the death toll sadly continues.

A stunning sunset sky. I'm truly sorry for your loss. Paul sounds amazing. I'm glad he was there for your family and I'm sad that he's gone now. This virus has stolen so much from so many of us. May his memory be a blessing and may you always think of him with fondness and a smile.

Another light in the darkness snuffed out by this horrid curse. Seems like it's always those who quietly make this life a better place for everyone around them. May Paul rest in peace, and see the kind of beauty you have captured here for eternity. He's earned it.
My deepest condolences for the loss of your friend, and my prayers go out to his loved ones left behind.
