Description

A young Cleopatra is seen here plotting the murder of her young brother, Ptolemy. Cleopatra was only 18 when she and her brother, Ptolemy XIV, age 12, ascended as co-rulers of Egypt, in 47 BC. It is assumed that Cleopatra poisoned him only three years later, so she could replace him with her own son by Caesar, Ptolemy XV Caesar, who was proclaimed co-ruler in September 44 BC. She chose aconite, or wolf's-bane, an extremely painful nerve poison that can take two to six hours to kill. She loved her little brother. Part of an occasional series of ancient Egyptian rulers, who I find quite fascinating. Hope you like it. Excellent character study; so meany people get carried away with the semi fictional romantic aspects of that history, and often forget the ruthlessly pragmatic reality. Great work
