Description

Outside Edale in Derbyshire, England, there's a scenic plateau; at the edge of it you can find a collection of extraordinary rocks. It's like something from an alien landscape; over countless millions of years erosion has worn away the surrounding land, and smoothed down the rocks themselves, until they resemble Henry Moore sculptures. They cluster together in all manner of natural arrangements, some even balancing precariously upon others. The place is a photographer's dream. Earlier this year I posted three earlier "Moore Rock" photos, taken in August 2001 (also with the same text as above). One of them depicted the same cluster of rocks as this, taken from a different angle. The photo you see here is from when I revisited the same spot in March this year.

This is great! I go as often as possible to the coast of Breizh (Bretagne, France, or "Lesser Britain" in Arthurian history) to walk amidst the rocks over there, and, believe me, there is a resemblance with these you posted. Only over there, the ocean/sea is very close...I'll upload some in the near future...Thanks for sharing: this is a place I must visit real soon...

Hey, for some reason (my dirty mind...LOL), shouldn't this have the "nudity" box checked? (J/K) Nice work. I love the opportunity to capture erosion.

More like a chair where you would expect a reclining nude to be, but isn't. This is a sort of "ghost of the reclining nude". It's hard to shake the image from your mind of the sharply suggested, but absent, reclining nude.

...very sculptural rocks - reminding me of whale bones or Henry Moore's work ( on the left )
