Description
She recently returned to her ancestral homeland. Many years ago, her family had been cruelly slaughtered by the wicked monstrosity that ruled the realm. But she survived due to her quick-witted actions. Receiving the news that the king and all his subjects had succumbed to a strange disease, she believed it would be safe for her to return to her old castle for a brief visit. We see her here surveying the land surrounding the old castle before returning to her home far to the south...

Awwwww.....I feel for her. Now we know whatβs made her so tough. This is so very well done. Hope the story continues....

She looks fantastic, Barb - and I really like the overall blue of this image. It adds a bit of mystery and a little touch of something not being entirely right in this place. Nice!

I'm with Rod, I love the blues, and your light is like iced frosting or cream...beautiful light, Barb: a luminous patina on very old, worn steps; the contrast is wonderful. Also, they curve down from what appears to be a very high perch, well beyond the frame, and spill into your heroine, who stands like a guardian, arms out, firm and unrelenting. The light on her outfit makes her as dappled as the stairs are....and she definitely looks like she's between one world and another, as indicated in your narrative. I love when you add small tales to your images---your images are pregnant with tales, and you add just enough words to make them come alive even more. A complex tale, suggesting pain and hope, accompanied by a magical image. Your light and composition are wonderful.
