Description
a friend of mine (former Marine) that was exposed to nuclear radiation in the 60's by our government has had numerous problems with his heart. he has had 14 heart procedures . he just had heart surgery recently and I learned yesterday, he in the hospital again. most of his fellow Marines has died from cancer that was exposed like him.
The Pacific Proving Grounds was the name given by the United States government to a number of sites in the Marshall Islands and a few other sites in the Pacific Ocean at which it conducted nuclear testing between 1946 and 1962. The U.S. tested a nuclear weapon (codenamed Able) on Bikini Atoll on June 30, 1946. This was followed by Baker on July 24, 1946 (dates are Universal Time, local dates .

A most beautiful and sparkling image and fine photo! Sorry to hear of your friend's problems stemming from government secret testing with nukes! I hope they have covered all his expenses but I have heard so many horror stories of the government trying to dodge any responsibility for their actions! A real travesty of justice!

they usually have to sue. he was an officer, so maybe they have more clout

Great tribute, hate to think how servicemen were used as guinea pigs

Superb photo and great dedication to your friend. Stop asking yourselves why aliens don't come to talk to us. Greediness and lack of heart is a worldwide problem but, we call ourselves humans. Pff...

That water sprinkler is a good reminder of those who suffered catastrophic illness through inept military procedures.

this is a beautiful summery photo.
I'm sorry about your friend, I really am. I had a soldier friend who had to sue the government for medical issues, too.

isn't it awful that these people, who gave so much, have to sue in order to get their due? I too knew a few people who suffered similar fates...they deserve all our honor and respect. Your image has a beautiful and beautifully lit fountain/sprinkler behind trees and fence---a fine choice (ie, the light behind the trees), like light bursting out everywhere. A fine tribute, and I hope your friend recovers 100%.

A beautiful tribute to your friend, Richard. Such a travesty that those who gave so much are still sacrificing - with little to no support for their sacrifices.

I commented on this in my comment on the next pic. CC, what this country did to you is a crime against humanity and a betrayal of your service to Country. You have my respect and wishes for the best possible outcome for you.
