End Of Watch
On September 15, our community lost a young hero. A 22 year old Police Officer who had only begun his career – and his life – was gunned down by a convicted felon (who shouldn’t have been walking the streets) while serving a warrant. The Training Officer that was with him returned fire and killed the gunman. The City of Independence had not lost an Officer in the line of duty since 2001.
He was laid to rest today. He began his career as an EMT, so fittingly an ambulance was used to carry him to his final resting place. The procession was miles long and included Police, Fire, and EMT units from all over the area. In a last act of this man’s selflessness (he was an organ donor), one of his kidneys will give another Officer from Springfield, Mo. an opportunity for additional years.
In these times of pandemics, stress, political uncertainties, and so many other negative influences, there is still good and light in this sad world.
The Ladies of T.N.A. and I pay our final respects to him, and salute all those who serve and protect. May God protect you, our brothers and sisters..

I had hoped to have the next page done by now, but when I opened up the file I was going to use for the first couple frames, all the figures had reverted back to the standard V4 for some screwy reason. Always something going awry anymore, it seems. It may well have been something I did as I have been doing a lot of re-organizing of files and so on.
Anyway, I’m now re-creating everything, so it might be a few days before I get the next page done. But I will – there’s a lot of stuff happening in this chapter.
With everything going on, I’ve been a little behind on commenting, but I’m getting caught up – or trying to, anyway..

Such a senseless tragedy for someone so young to be taken in that way! I'm glad the animal that did it paid for it with his life! I agree with your sentiment in honoring all those who put their lives at risk to serve our communities... but I'd add the men and women of the health care profession as well.

Absolutely! With what's been going on the last couple years, it's got to be exhausting for them as well as dealing with the risk of infection.

Sadly there is no sure-fire way of stopping mindless shooting incidents anywhere. In the old days, I daresay that felon may have thought twice if there was some threat of hardship on his surviving family after he'd been "dispensed with" Thank you for your tribute, Rod. PLEASE don't worry about commenting! Just go and worry that felon's family!

Lovely tribute for this fallen young man...but I wonder why a rookie cop is sent to serve a warrant on a convicted, and likely dangerous, felon, Training Officer aside.

It is so sad Rod when violence like this happens. I would never be a police officer, so much stress on everything they do. They get blamed for excessive force and get shot at. So many people have no respect for the law. What a brilliant tribute to this fallen officer.
Also to be the father and mother of each victim and offender has to be just a total nightmare.

In Germany this week, a petrol station employee was shot in the head because he pointed out to a man that he had to wear a mask in the sales room, he was just 20 years old, so much sensless is going on in the world, I don't know why people become more and more violent. Wonderful tribute for this Police Officer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A very fine tribute to a fallen officer! And so very young besides! What a tragedy! I love you fitting words too! Very humbling!
As to your troubles with the next page, I have experienced that happening as well sometimes! A very frustrating occurrence. If you have dialed in your characters, I think that poser sets them all to zero for no reason at all except those darn runtime gremlins having a blast at your expense. On occasion when I think of it, I sometimes save an obj file of a character I create, then bring it in as a morph. That way, if posers screws with me, at least I have just one dial of the morph to set at 1. Don't know if you do that but if not, you might try and see what happens? Just a thought! Have a great day, Rod! Hope your computer troubles are all behind you!!!!!

It's become such a common thing that happens in so many cities. That doesn't make it any less tragic but I'm happy there is a silver lining. This is a superb way pay tribute to a fallen real life hero.
