Description

Following on from my previous image, this shows the Discovery II carrying six passenger modules. Each one can accommodate up to 250 passengers on journeys up to six weeks in length, and up to 80 people on maximum length journeys of around seven months. On longer journeys much more food and water have to be carried, but this is not the only reason for reducing the passenger load; people need more space on longer journeys so they can escape from each other. Unlike crews, passengers aren't selected for their ability to tolerate being crammed intro relatively small spaces with lots of other people. Some operators won't carry passengers on journeys longer than eight weeks because of the behavioural problems in a small but troublesome percentage of people. On this journey the ship called at several stops, picking up the six passenger modules at her first call, and then heading to her second to collect another twelve modules.
