Description
The house darkened as all the electric bulbs dimmed accompanied by a sound like wind blowing over a deeper subsonic humming. Grace's comely presentation rapidly metamorphosed as a wail of agony rose over the sounds of wind and thunder. The hideous, glowing apparition lunged past Dorotea toward Brooke continuing to wail the word "MURDER!!" As the apparition passed her Dorotea felt an icy cold as it sucked warmth and energy from its surroundings to feed it's pain and rage.
Brooke screamed, "NO!" as it touched her and she felt an icy coldness and a terrible presence enclosing her mind.
Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 12.0.703 and tweaked for compositing ghostly Grace into the picture, color saturation and a subtle vignette in Photoshop. The setting is based on the Haunted House by Blue Tree Studio. The characters are based on morphs and textures by Tempesta3d imposed upon the La Femme, L'Homme and Dawn meshes. Flink's instant forest, trees, sky and rolling hills enhanced the background.
The characters and personalities of Elizabeth and Dorotea Van Humbeek, Gregor Bubnoff, Brooke Potts and Grace Geist are my original characters. I am so indebted to the content creators who made the meshes, morphs and textures that allowed me to bring these people to life. Briefly, Professor Elizabeth Van Humbeek is a paranormal investigator who teaches at the University of River Heights. Her elder sister, Dorotea, is a world traveler and adventurer. Brooke and Gregor are graduate students and assistants to the Professor. Grace Geist is a restless spirit that has become something of a familiar to the professor. Her ghastly changed appearance is Ghost for V4 by Adam Thwaites.

Thank you, my dear! I love that I can use a material (as in the Ghost) to light a scene. I'm still figuring Superfly out as I use it to tell my silly stories and I appreciate your comment!

The story continues - keep it up; we still have time before the climax on Halloween! Shame Dorotea isn't available in DAZ. Could duplicate her with sliders, but...

Thank you so much! If you like Dorotea you should look at Blanche by Tempesta3D. She's very similar. I love Tempesta3D's work and she's done a ton for DAZ over the last few years!

Thank you, Paul. I love all my characters and silly stories but I have a particular affinity for Dorotea and Elizabeth, the Van Humbeek sisters. Ghostly Grace and the two young grad students are a little less like me but they make for an interesting ensemble and this is my first attempt to tell an involved story with them. I expect there'll be more and I hope you will continue to enjoy and let me know what you think once and awhile.
As for the lighting, I'm loving learning Superfly and it blows my tiny little ming that the bulk of the lighting in this picture is from the material of the Ghost (Thank you, Vince Bagna!).

Thank you so much, Annie! It's amazing to me what you can do with Supefly which I suspect I am only just scratching the surface of. The main light source is the material of the Ghost... it blows my mind! =D

Thank you, my dear! That cool emissive material is the work of Vince Bagna. I don't know what I'd do without that materials set. I'm fair at materials with Firefly but I'm a complete newb as regards materials for Superfly.
I hope you'll enjoy the other images in the series being generated by this story.

Nice scene and impressive in a technical sense, but this strikes me of special effects triumphing over art. Ghosts are supposed to be ephemeral and barely visible which is what makes them scary. I find it hard to identify with the concept of a ghost illuminating a room. It can be done, but why?

I'm delighted with you your approval of techniques I used. Your idea of Ghosts is a bit limited from my viewpoint; Grace in her usual form actually fits your feeling about ghosts. I wanted to emphasize a BIG change when she becomes an agressive, monstrous apparition so I went with the effects. Call it a difference in taste. Clearly it doesn't suit your taste and you would do the scene differently which is fine! =)
Thanks for the interesting viewpoint, my dear!

Oooh! I'm happy you understand as I am stretching a bit to relate Ghosts and electromagnetic energy especially electricity in the wiring of houses and such. Thank you for your lovely comment and I hope you will continue to enjoy the story!
