Description

Professor Elizabeth Van Humbeek, her sister Dorotea and the graduate students Brooke and Gregor ascended to the second floor of the house and entered the study of Grace Geist. The translucent vision that was Grace the ghost was seated at a desk. "Thank you for the brief demonstration of haunting, Grace," Elizabeth said. "I won't soon ask you for something like that again, my dear." "It's well you won't, Elizabeth. I am surprised at how seductive the dark anger I felt at my death is still. I don't wish to lose myself nor do I desire harm for your friends." Dorotea said, "Grace, what do you remember about your death?" "I had retired for the night and the last I remember I was drifting off to sleep in my bed. My chamber is on the floor above. The next thing I remember I was looking down upon a corpse laying on yon Pentagram. I realized that the corpse was in fact my mortal husk. I had been brutally murdered but I have no idea who the culprit was. I was aware that someone was departing but I had not yet gained the facility to move by my own will so I couldn't see who it was. I expect that person was the murderer. How I would love to punish the person but they are doubtless dead by now. After all this occurred near one hundred and forty years ago." "Might we visit your chamber and see if anything occurs to explain all this?" Gregor asked. "After all, nothing has been disturbed in this house since your death." Brooke had been rubbing her chin thoughtfully still shaking from being nearly possessed by Grace moments before. "Coldest case ever," she murmured. Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 12.0.703 and tweaked for compositing ghostly Grace into the picture, color saturation and a subtle vignette in Photoshop. The setting is based on the Haunted House by Blue Tree Studio. The characters are based on morphs and textures by Tempesta3d imposed upon the La Femme, L'Homme and Dawn meshes. Flink's instant forest, trees, sky and rolling hills enhanced the background. The characters and personalities of Elizabeth and Dorotea Van Humbeek, Gregor Bubnoff, Brooke Potts and Grace Geist are my original characters. I am so indebted to the content creators who made the meshes, morphs and textures that allowed me to bring these people to life. Briefly, Professor Elizabeth Van Humbeek is a paranormal investigator who teaches at the University of River Heights. Her elder sister, Dorotea, is a world traveler and adventurer. Brooke and Gregor are graduate students and assistants to the Professor. Grace Geist is a restless spirit that has become something of a familiar to the professor. Her ghastly changed appearance is Ghost for V4 by Adam Thwaites.

More good fun, Molly. Grace must be bored after all that time, particularly as she's keeping track of it. Lucky too, that the house escaped condemnation, sale, or even the ravages of local teenagers sneaking off to get make out or get high...

Heh. Well, being the guest house on the Van Humbeek manor property put Grace's home behind a wall and Grace herself may have been a formidable deterrent to those who would disturb the house. XD As for her boredom I think time is experience differently for those without material existence and for a part of that time she was lost in her anger; kind of a continual ghostly temper tantrum which I imagine to be the mind state for many spirits. Part of what makes her so special is she has managed to organize herself into a proactive entity interested in the material world and what her role in regard to it might be (aside from scaring Brooke out of her shorts!)

I always look forward to your comments so I'm very grateful that you take the time! <3

Yep the poser characters are performing well here.....very well done. I used Poser exclusively up to and including purchase of Poser 11 but became disillusioned by Smith Micro's apparent apathy with unresolved teething issues at release plus lack of upgrades especially with Daz product compatibility at the time.......so ditched and quit. Salute those of you who hung in there and hope the product eventually was worthy of the purchase cost

Heh. I have DAZ Studio but have never really learned to used it. I struggled up the learning curve with Poser years ago and am disinclined to abandon it for anything else. I am told that the content technology for DAZ is better and I can see there's scads more stuff available but I'm a pretty happy Poser girl. In the end, I don't think the tool you choose is as important as your dedication to learning that tool and using it to effectively convey the pictures you see in you mind.

Smith Micro really allowed Poser to languish and even though their resources are limited Bondware/Renderosity is trying to do right by the platform. That said, compatibility with recent DAZ content is limited and only achieved with work arounds.

As always, I appreciate that you took the time to comment and I always look forward to what you might share of your own work and comments here and elsewhere!

Deat Molly, they are listening devotionally what Grace is telling them. I like the expression of fascination what you can see on their body attitudes. Very mysterious are the lamp lights. Regards Anne

well worth the zoom view in order to catch all the fine scene details; the low lighting is very well done as you can make everything out (which is more than can be said for some of mine :)) and the pentagram is intriguing as it has seven points, so a fairy star rather than a pentagram as used in Dennis Wheatley's black magic stories, so fairy magic (murder), a bit of cluedo fun :) great image and story so far

Thank you so much, Paul. You know I struggle with lighting so your feedback on this one is particularly pleasing to me! Although I could see that the marking I found for the floor was not a pentagram I confess I did not know about Dennis Wheatley's black magic stories. I'm glad to have something else interesting to add to my reading list (which is long but it never hurts to make it longer!) =)
