Description

Grace melted away and her voice was heard floating down the spiral stairway to the bedchamber on the story above her study. "Please come up, if you will. Feel free to look around. The Van Humbeek family, in the interest of their investigation of spirits and the occult, left this house untouched as you already have observed. My presence seems to have slowed the deterioration you would expect over more than a century. There may be something that will help you understand why I was killed and more importantly, who committed that vile deed!" Professor Van Humbeek, her sister Dorotea and graduate students Brooke and Gregor ascended the stairs to find Grace reclining on the bed. "Hmmm," Dorotea examined a bottle from the bedside table. "Laudanum. Did you take this upon retiring? It would be easy enough to add additional opium to the tincture to ensure you would remain unconscious while carried down to the second floor where your body was found." Grace blinked. "That's possible. Even likely. I took a draught almost every night as I was plagued with insomnia!" "Who would have access to your personal quarters, Grace? That would give us a list of suspects!" Professor Van Humbeek frowned with concentration. "Servants? Intimate acquaintances?" Grace frowned in turn. "I can only think of the servants who daily freshened my quarters; mostly a maid called Daisy. Oh! But no..." Brooke having plucked up her courage, perched on the bed near Grace. "But?" She prompted. Reluctantly Grace said, "The master's son, Edward, who would be Elizabeth's grandfather expressed fascination with my researches into the spiritual world. I always thought he was attracted to me more than my research. But..." Her whispery voice trailed off. "So," Gregor said. "Either servant or boy friend interested in the occult. Am thinking both possible but boy friend likely!" Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 12.0.703. Saved in Open EXR format which I have not worked with before! Tweaked for compositing ghostly Grace into the picture, color saturation and a subtle vignette in Photoshop. The setting is based on the Haunted House by Blue Tree Studio. The characters are based on morphs and textures by Tempesta3d imposed upon the La Femme, L'Homme and Dawn meshes. Flink's instant forest, trees, sky and rolling hills enhanced the background. The characters and personalities of Elizabeth and Dorotea Van Humbeek, Gregor Bubnoff, Brooke Potts and Grace Geist are my original characters. I am so indebted to the content creators who made the meshes, morphs and textures that allowed me to bring these people to life. Briefly, Professor Elizabeth Van Humbeek is a paranormal investigator who teaches at the University of River Heights. Her elder sister, Dorotea, is a world traveler and adventurer. Brooke and Gregor are graduate students and assistants to the Professor. Grace Geist is a restless spirit that has become something of a familiar to the professor. Her ghastly changed appearance is Ghost for V4 by Adam Thwaites.

Thank you, Marius. It's the first time I used an open EXR format for the image I exported from Poser. I will have to learn a bit more about it.

Thanks, Paul! The master's son had been mentioned before but I thought now was the time to elaborate a bit and give him a name. I'm so pleased that you have gone to the trouble to follow this little story!
