amazing ... I find owning such old pictures of the family one of the most valuable treasures you can have! I always wonder when I see old pictures like this, were people happier then than now?

How I love to look back in time, Steve! It's great that you still have those photo's, and so interesting to think about how time was for people then. So this are twins, very special. Their way of looking is different, the left look in the camera, the other not. I think, at the time they were earlier adult.

wow what a photo...they look so serious and dour...photographs in the 1880s were a big deal, and people posed as if their lives depended on it (Norm Macdonald, the comic, did a bit about his great great grandfather taking all day to get one good shot, in the 1800s,; and people would say, "you wanna see a shot of my great-great grandfather?" But now, with cellphones, people say, "you wanna see 2 billion shots of my great-great grandfather?") These are genuine posed shots! Love those faces. And it looks like they're in a corn field. And i love that oblitering light---the photographer didn't balance it: I love mistakes like that. (It could have happened in the darkroom too.) Love it. A great artifact of the past.
