Description

Orbitting at the edge of our galaxy a great creature stirred. Known only as the jewel collector, its 'eyes' note a new prize deep in one spiral arm. Unfurling its million mile wide light sails, it begins the slow journey into the spiral arm. What luck. Not exceeding 1/100 of light speed, the journey to the prize will take just 3 million years. The prize was so close yet unnoticed until now. *** Drawing in its sails, it approaches the solar system, the prize at hand. A pretty little jewel known as earth will fill its 2nd last slot. A feeling of joy fills its body, for only one more is needed. Then it can return to its kind in the deep interstellar space between the galaxies. Like the adults, it will display all 8 jewels proudly, its rite of passage into adulthood complete. But dont worry, they treat their jewels well, like a fishtank, all the light and radiant energy needed to keep gems healthy will be provided. Mankind might have a issue with being pulled out of the solar system into deep space but at least they will survive. Possibly even thrive on the bodies of those great creatures. ***************** Modelled in Xfrog at 1.25 million polygons (probly at least halfway to the max this computer will handle easily). A bonus, since little glass is used... only a 4 hour render.

Star Wars technology won't help much here, I don't expect. Great idea. And I think you've got the scale right too.
