Refugees of a great war. The last survivors of their race. They have fleed across the entire andromeda galaxy only to find their ancient enemies in hot pursuit. An act of desperation was needed. Returning to cyrosleep, their great ship steers into the void between the galaxies. At sub light speeds, millions of years pass. In this empty darkness there is nothing. Yet........ 200,000 light years short of our own galaxy, alarms sound. A tiny rogue red dwarf is spotted, no doubt ejected from the galaxy untold ages ago. The crews of the refugee fleet awaken. A new home has been found in the solitude of deep space. The lone planet is far from perfect. Orbiting the star on a very eccentric orbit, it would pass the equivalent of the orbit of jupiter and in closer then mercury every 7 years. Whats worse, a day on this planet is 3 earth years long. The atmosphere, if you call it that, alternatively boils then cools and liquifies with the changing seasons. Make no mistake, that isnt serene ocean water, but a soup of hydro-chemicals and nitrogen, already liquified to 70k. Of course hidden in the depths are all the lifeforms, they too await the short summer, to start their next cycle of life. But for now, the long night is well at hand, daybreak is still over a year away. On this rock they build their homes. Each 'clan', only known by its color erect giant biospheres, the tallest made by the [reds] tower over a mile high. The equanimatic [green] build on stilts while [blue] and [yellow] squat directly on the mountain peaks. Only the [purple] have learnt to float on the caustic sea, literally floating as the ocean boils off each spring around them. They have found peace at last.
