(I was really hit last week---I didn't have covid, I had a cold, but ay ay ay, I'm coming back slowly, but whew...one of the drawbacks of living in a densely populated area...people are sick in my bldg...) It wasn't easy to not-comment on this till now, and I'd started a tale on your last delight, but it got waylaid for now at least...Anyway, I didn't expect this! A true medieval scene, with a meeting of two armed knights...are they friends? foes? It's a private moment, and we won't know what they're saying. Since it's at the wall, maybe one is checking out the other...I love that you don't explain visually, you just give a private moment. You got all the details---the helmets, that maille (can you imagine wearing that wire mesh? in the summertime? hell, even winter's gotta be a wee bit uncomfortable), etc. The stances are fraught---they're bent just a little as if to lunge, but not threatening...and the light is in back while that dark slab of castle on the left is so foreboding; and a dragon right above. (Blue! I love that color...) And a trusty dog. I love the rounded tower in the background too. This is doused in mystery and subtlety, and you created a genuine human moment sans all the glorifications and hoopla that often surrounds knights in popular culture these days. (Those helmets gotta be a bit hot too...) A private moment we'll never be able to hear. And---yep---a great grayed signature, right on the 'fanny pack' of the left knight. A subtle mysterious moment of long, long ago, w/ a perfect choice of objects...(I think of that old, old commercial, "you wouldn't have a touch of Gray Poupon..." I think that's what the right-side guy is saying...) I hope your thanksgiving was warm and loving, Barb, and I wish you strength and health and the same for your mom and your loved ones (incl your cat). Take care and happy holiday.
