Texas – installed capacity 24,899MW Far and away the state leader of wind energy is Texas with a total installed capacity of 24,899MW, enough to power over six million homes.

The state’s largest wind farm is the Roscoe wind farm in Central Texas, which has 634 wind turbines at a capacity of 781.5MW which produce 2,174 GWh of electricity per year.

Texas’ growth in wind power in the early 2000s was due to former governor and current Secretary of Energy Rick Perry. Under his tenure, wind power surged from 116MW to over 11,000MW and $7bn was invested in a transmission scheme to connect renewable power to Texan cities

Do they have winglets? I'm just curious. Green energy is great. As long as you don't ask me to drive a fan.. :D
Superb shot, my dear Richard.

Great surreal photo. You answered my question...so those are all wind turban's. Is it true that Texas has it's own Power Grid and is not connected to any neighboring state Power Grid?

Phantastic shot! I remember, quite a few years ago, I was in the U.S. for holidays and on my tour through some places I came to Palm Springs. From there we went to visit the Joshua Tree National Park. To get to the National Park, we had to take the Interstate 10 which leads through a farm of windmills. Though that farm wasn't as big as the one depicted on your photo, for an average European, it was still quite impressing!

California was the largest wind turbine farms, but Texas past them after a new farm was built in West Texas. I keep thinking, what if one more turbine causes the state to take off. thanks for your comment and have a safe New Year
