She had left the encampment at early light, and now, as the sun was starting to dip, she was still wheeling through the forest. All her onboard instruments continued to register that she was on the correct heading. Watching through the windscreens at the forest about her was relaxing, but what troubled her was the silence. Every planet she had been to before, there were a variety of sounds. This one was like those domed gardens of mars; no birds, no insects of any kind. Only the wind in the leaves gave any sound at all. It made her think of a garden dome that hadn't been completed yet. At least those had recorded sounds of birds singing. There were many unanswered questions and mysteries that surrounded this planet that troubled her. Sensors could penetrate the atmosphere, entire regions where electronics failed to operate or give meaningful readings, and an occasional gentle rain, but no storms. A very strange, but incomplete paradise.
