Description
Oh my. I just saw Richard's memorial to Jock McGregor (jocko500 on RR), by Richard (memorial is here). It's beautiful, please see it. I'm just heartbroken.
I really am. I didn't know him well, but we corresponded here and there; and I went head over heels about his painting. Please---go to his gallery (link above) and look. Go back pages...just look. I have been in the arts since childhood, and I've studied with terrific painters, knew several personally, met several others, and god, I'm not exaggerating when I say that Jock was one of the very, very best. He did musicians that just pierced to the heart of music. And musicians---he got their light, joy, and total immersion. He didn't make them look "important": No---he got it: He understood that the musician was the vessel, the carrier of light. In everything, he used light like blasts from above. He outlined things with colors that made everything burst out. It was uncanny. He used broad, bold brush strokes that felt like he painted with lightning itself. And the generosity I saw in the man---which Richard knew face to face and some of you may have known too---was in every stroke he created. He unleashed the light in everything---and I say that after 72 years of life: He was so very illumined and kind. I am so, so sorry for his loss.
Thanks to Richard (another great member) for letting us know...and all I can say is, wherever you are now Jock, the stars better get outa the way, 'cause your light makes them tremble. They're your students. I know you were a devout, loving Christian, thus I put a cross in my little image...my image is meager compared to your work, but it's a token. It was a privilege---a privilege---to know you on this earth; may your light shine forever...

Everyone: My back went out (age, age, age), so I've not commented recently. But I'll get to you all. I'll be back (I've seen everything)...I hope you're all well and staying well. Blessings to everyone...m

I have no idea on a dedi for dear Jock. Sad that another Renderosity artist/friend has passed. I really enjoyed the dedications I have seen for him. And as always Mark you come up with a perfect one bro. I'm sure looking down from heaven he is smiling. Love your design and the pink border with the cross, a perfect touch Mark. 👍❤

This is wonderful, and sooooo perfect for Jock - I know he'd have loved it, and I'm sure he DOES love it. His physical body is gone, but his spirit and his wonderful artworks are still here. And your wonderful dedication is full of the light and color and movement he loved, Mark. So spot on.
I wish I'd had the opportunity to meet him in person. He just seems like one of those guys you'd love just spending time with.

I found out my pure chance when I searched for his name in Lake Charles. I had called him a few times with no answer, and I was concerned for his welfare.
your render is so powerful and brilliant colors. He would have loved it as I do

Well Mark, I'm heartbroken too, for I had could know about this. He was my art-friend on FB and had also a bit more contact with Jock. But I've not gone to FB lately. I'm so sad and I'' m shocked, terrible, I didn't know Jock had Covid. I know Jock was a deeply religious man, he sometimes sent me Bible texts, also videos with chistical hymnes. And his paintwork was so unique. It''s a great loss for those who will miss Jock so much. I've goosebumps now, but I thank you from my heart for this beautiful ode to Jock, you expressed it so beautifully, Mark. Your drawing is great in symbolic way, there is so much to see what remembers to Jock, his strong way of painting.
I'm thinking about or, if someone, as with Jock is the case, many works of art leave behind, or that makes sorrow than greater for those who are left behind. There are then so many visible memories. Of course, you can cherish them, but it's always a confrontation with loss. It may be individual.

Thank you for this wonderful dedication to a fine artist. I've been missing seeing him in the galleries for a while now!
