Description
This, ladies and gentlemen, is an alley about 2 blocks from my home. Is that a mess, or what??? This is an old photo. And this is an alley, folks. Just an alley. And look: Cars all over the place, garbage cans, wires---look at those wires! It's urban life, and we gotta capture the crazy along with the beautiful, am I right? I took 2 billion shots to get maybe 3 that captured the cloistered feel. I'll never know why that car just stopped there, in front. Nice goin' dude! Block the entrance for everyone! Well, enjoy. Wanted to post this. This is city life at its most crowded...
I'm leaving comments in bits and pieces: I'll get to you all. My back went on strike a few weeks ago, and I sat it down and said: "Back? Get it together! I cook for you, I clean for you, I give you ice, I give you heat, your own iPhone---what'm I, chopped liver??? Pull it together! I'm almost 73, I can use a little help here!" Ok I'll move on. I just want you to know why I'm not here very regularly. (My back's playing poker with its friends, as we speak. I'm sittin' here in pain, and it's playing 5 card stud. No respect, no freakin' respect...)
I'll get to ALL of you this and next week. But I hope you're all well and healthy and safe! No covid! Nobody wants you, covid! And for those of you getting hit with these wonderful windchills and storms---it's a gas, ain't it? We had minus 22 windchills last week! If anyone says "windchills are a joke"---send them to the Midwest! (Back me up on this, Rod!) And places like colorado---Steve country---have, what? 200000000000000 feet of snow??? And that's just last night. Nice winter we're having......balmy......mild......
I'll stop complaining. Have a wonderful day, and stay healthy and above all, stay inspired! Much light and blessing to all of you, let's all beat this virus! peace, mark
(the pic's a little grainy 'cause the camera moved---I think it moved on purpose) (I have an ornery camera)

This beautiful capture remembers me of the "Lucy" sci-fi movie.

To me the alley looks like the very life blood of a city.

Nice capture and great comment about your inner feelings (could be mine too), don't let complain as you say, because the show must go on! Take care!😃👍

Yep.... I'll back you up, buddy! We have like 2 million feet - OK, OK, it's more like 2 inches, but it's still c..o..l..d. And windchills? Oh, dude...... I had one stop today and ask if I wanted my cup of coffee iced. I told it where it could stick that ice. We had to dance with Mr. W. Chill today in Lowe's parking lot so we could go spend another $700+ on a new range / oven. Ours went DOA yesterday. Always a good time...
Anyway - on to your awesome photo...
I'm always amazed when I see shots like this, Mark. It looks like a giant spider has been busy happily stringing cobwebs to catch pigeons for its afternoon snack (I don't even want to think about what's for dinner...). But you have certainly captured the claustrophobic feel of life in the more urban (or urbane?) areas of any large city. And I love the stark, black and white treatment you used - so perfect to communicate the packed and somewhat off-kilter atmosphere of these places.
Superbly done as always, Mark!
Now, tell that back of yours to straighten up and fly right! Or you'll force it into a tub of Icy-Hot until it screams "I've had enough!" Stay well, buddy!

with so many wires, it looks like parts of Manila. superb cityscape Mark

This is a good photo of everyday life. The chaos is a controlled chaos, really. It's the way a city runs and lives and is remembered. The black and white treatment adds a neat layering effect.
We've been in a deep freeze for weeks. The snow isn't deep but it melts just enough to freeze into puddles every night. A sanding truck just went by the house, again in anticipation of more freezing tonight.
Take care of yourself, Mark, go easy and feel better, soon. Back trouble is a tough thing to deal with, you have my sympathy.

Great Photo, wonderful Rant!!

A very crowded scene - so much packed into such a narrow area. Looks good in black and white!

Here I sit with such a B.I.G. smile on my face, I'm really shaking laughing. Well, my entire body shakes Toujour, and Tou-night, but this is shaking in a kind of hilarious way. And now you will think, my best friend, that Jacomina also has no respect for me too, it shouldn't get worsen, right? That back of yours is like a pampered child, it wants more and more attention, never satisfied; whatever you do for all those segments, and there are 'damn a lot'. That photo, oh I see it all, all those dented carts, they stand for those dents in your back. And the trunk never closes, the jumble of so many lines, well, all those shoots of pain, it's a chaos; And I think that you have to be very supple to walk through this crammed alley. Then you have to wriggle yourself in all sorts of turns, and that's precisely that dissatisfied and thankless back of Mark, ..... Aanaahaataaa...cccc <---- this is now a curse.
Thank you, Mark for sharing this great photo, now I've any idea of a big busy city, and I guess the smell is horrible there. Please take care of your poor back, dear friend. Give yourself that rest that you need, and forget the comments. All members love you anyway.

A good decision by you to convert this into a black and white photo Mark. A very impressive and at the same time a very dramatic shot of daily city life. Take care my friend.
