Description
She stared across the desk at her team leaders. She felt a great loss settling in upon her. She knew the answers were going going to be bad before she even asked the questions.
"Personnel?" She glanced over.
"We lost a shuttle coming out." The man sighed softly with a shake of his head. "They were hit by a radiation surge. There were seven on board. We're still doing a count as to who was on board and how man are missing."
"Tera?" She felt a great sinking feeling.
"We were never able to make contact. And no idea as to how far away she was surveying sights." He lowered his head.
"The change just occurred so rapidly." A slim black man stated in a lowered tone of voice. "There just wasn't enough time."
"Our sensors are essentially blind a man dressed in black began. "If not for being shielded by the moon, we would of have already burned up."
"Any contact from the Starfleet transport or that Officer?"
"Nothing. But communications is being disrupted by the radiation waves."
She leaned back into her chair. All the information was distressing, but she had to put her personal feelings aside for now.
"Keep the moon between us and the planet. Head out and away until we are clear. We can make contact with Diesel at that point."
"And until then?" The black man asked curiously.
"We mourn our losses."

Awesome work! Really great scene and illustration. I am glad the losses were discussed, it makes the story more real and powerful. I felt bad for poor Tera. She just wanted to drive her surveyor and be alone and she died alone and un-buried. so sad.
