Description

On a sunny winter afternoon, the polar bear family heads out for a stroll across the snow! ==AMY’S NOTES== I first realized how versatile the Generation 4 mesh was when I saw the "Creature Creator" morphs for V4 and M4 — seriously, a chimpanzee head? — but I never could find textures to go with those amazing morphs. Sparky’s work with this mesh is also pretty amazing and actually includes textures! The set does have some limits. As you might expect with such a dramatic morph, expression dials don’t always work that well. But there’s just something about the bear and the rabbit morphs that I find charming, esp. for stylized scenes like this. Look at those hands and feet!! Rendered in February 2022 using Firefly in Poser Pro 11 for Mac at 2048 × 1152 pixels. Postwork effects in ON1 Standalone 2020. View full size on my blog. ==CREDITS== SCENE: Fairytale Collection -- Cottage by Redhouse Studios, with Rural Cottage Frozen textures by RAGraphicDesign; RA Winter Skies and Environments by RAGraphicDesign; Flink’s Winter Bushes 2; Evergreen Fir Trees by Merlin Studios. CHARACTER: Polar bear characters for V4, M4, and K4 by Sparky; V4 Dynamic Peasant Dress by Cute3D; M4 The Woodsman Outfit by MortemVetus; K4 Fairytale Gnome outfit by Lyrra Madril.

Thank you! And I resisted the temptation to spend days working out how to create a displacement map that would make it look like they were leaving footprints in the snow, so that's a bonus!

I forgot to check out this scene with my screen brightness at 100% (I usually keep it around 75% to spare my eyes), and I just noticed that at full brightness it's VERY BRIGHT! Hope I don't blind anyone :-)

Ba dum bump! (<- my attempt at writing out that sound musicians play after a punny joke!) Thanks for the comment :-)

I think the brightness works for the sense of a cold, crisp, sunny Winter (or arctic) day. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the comment, Molly! And like when I'm outside on a bright sunny day in the neighborhood, I can't look at this one at full screen brightness without wearing sunglasses :-)

A very creative use of these figures in this great scene!

Thanks for the comment! When I was working on the scene, I kept thinking, "Something's not quite right. They don't look like they're really in this setting." Then I'd stop and ask myself: "So when's the last time you actually saw bear people strolling out of a winter cottage?!" I think partly it was the contrast of the polar bear's "white" coat against the blinding white of the snow that was giving me that impression, so I look forward to seeing what happens when I put them into other settings!

I always love your write ups, especially with this "Three Bears" type that come with your renders! I learn so much from them. Wonderful story type illustration!

Thank you so much for that comment, VirtualCity! I look forward to seeing where else these bear people might show up :-)
