Description

This is the final iteration of my homage to Christian Schloe - None of the original elements of Mr. Schloe's digital painting were digitally copied, cloned, or stamped. I borrowed the concept of "butterflies as hot-air-balloon" alone. I will continue using the techniques I learned while researching vintage photography - its no secret - basically the paper yellows over time, saturation of color decreases over time, and the loss of contrast over time - then it's a matter of adding wear-and-tear aka distressing the paper/canvas with worn edges , creases, cracks, dust - speckles-noise. and stains. But, I quickly found out that Its really easy to overdo it . Here you have an opportunity to compare the digital image before adding vintage effects - At first I bemoaned the loss of details in my clouds and figures - and was tempted several times to bump up the saturation of color - I missed them as well. Please leave a comment about anything that comes to mind - If we are doing it right as artists, we are always learning from each other. * All of my latest images in this gallery are formally copyrighted and meta-tagged, creative content is embedded in the image file and the file info. This was purposely made as an homage to Christian Schloe - he is a current digital artist that makes "faux vintage" images reminiscent of the Victorian age Postcards - you can find him and his work on Google. Making this image was a great learning experience n how to "age" an image and the virtual substrate on which it appears (paper, canvas, etc) - as you you can see from the FIRST post of the same image before "aging" - even though it may be a sound illustration, the style hardly looks complete in straight-up digital format. Still working on making it even more authentic. Do you like doing work similar to this?
