Description
In the musical, "Hamilton," Burr asks Hamilton, "Why do you write like you're running out of time?" Of all people, you, sir, should know: because life is short! And Hamilton had a LOT he needed to say.
==AMY’S NOTES==
My wife and I went to see "Hamilton" at the Buell Theater in Denver the other night (after having watched it on Disney+ a half dozen or so times), and during the song that line comes from, this "fan art" image popped into my head. As a writer and retired writing instructor, I can particularly relate to the urgency Hamilton must’ve felt to get his ideas onto paper!
As y 'all know, I’m fairly new to doing portraits and still have a lot to learn, but this was a fun one to assemble b/c the parchment paper background and scattered papers were fairly obvious ideas.
I do want to point out two things for the purists out there: (1) of course I know that Alexander Hamilton was not black, but he was played by a black actor in the stage performance I saw, and this fan art was inspired by that performance; and (2) I know that this outfit is not accurate, either to the stage performance or the historical period, but it was the closest thing M4 had in his closet!
Rendered in March 2022 using Firefly in Poser Pro 11.3 for Mac at 1800 × 2250 pixels. Postwork in ON1 2020 Standalone. View full size on my blog.

Thank you! I'm glad you "recognized" it as a Hamilton homage before you read my description!

Thanks for the comment! The credit for adding more papers goes to my wife, though it was my idea for them to be flying around :-)

Looks good - and has a sense of urgency!

You have succeeded in every aspect of what you were trying to achieve! This is marvelous!

Thank you so much! I do wish I had a more Hamilton-esque outfit for M4, but then again, I've never used the Regency outfit, so now I have :-)

Nice work, I say the ability for a person to portray someone they do not look like well is a good actor.

The picture is a very strong character portrait and stands well by itself although I very much enjoyed learning what had inspired it. I'm with Kellie regarding the flying papers: it's a detail that speaks to the urgency to write so eloquently! =)
On a totally irrelevant side note, doesn't it drive you nuts that most conforming clothing for dear M4 has weirdly rounded shoulders? XD As someone who has never attempted to create conforming clothing I admit I have my nerve.... =P
I really enjoy viewing work like this, Amy. It gives me ideas! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the comments, Molly! I know what you mean about M4's clothing being round in the shoulders, but I think the culprit isn't the clothing as much as the rigging it's trying to match. I have a few M4 clothing items that look better around the shoulders, and I'm pretty sure those content creators put a lot of effort into modifying how the collar and shoulder joints work on the clothing with custom JCMs. I've messed around with that a bit for conforming clothing items I've made for Nursoda's people, and it's a lot of work!
M4's shoulders (and thigh bends) have been the bane of many a content creator! I totally lucked out in this portrait b/c the gawd-awful right thigh bend just happened to be hidden by his pose :-)

A very beautiful scene in the old time, great work!

Superb job!

Thank you so much :-) I do sometimes feel compelled to render like I'm running out of time! (Dear Universe: that is NOT a hint.)

Estonishing great looking image and writings dear Amy, love especialy this sepia version and also these flying papers!
MeInOhio
Well, it came out very nice! Love all the pages scattered about.

Thanks! I certainly hope the actual Hamilton was a bit more organized with his writings than my fictional version apparently is! I actually went looking for samples of Hamilton's handwriting to use on the pages, but it turns out what was already on them is close enough. Just don't look too closely or you'll see he's writing the same two pages over and over :-)
daggerwilldo
A sensational post and a message we could all apply to whatever it is we love to do !!!!!

Thanks so much for the comment, dag! And yes, I definitely had the idea of "render like you're running out of time" in the back of my mind as I was making this. It wasn't until I saw your message from The Galactic Management that I realized how true that is!! :-)
