Description
A lovely day for the Chug to take her human for a walk!
==AMY’S NOTES==
This did not turn out AT ALL like I had it in my mind, but then again, my mind tends to present me with images that are simply not possible to capture with a camera, not even a heavily manipulated 3D camera! I think my brain works in "surreal-o-vision"!
The Chug (Chihuahua/Pug) character is my favorite for the HW dog, and this is basically an attempt to do a Chug portrait. I have no idea how a photographer would’ve captured this angle, but it let me feature the dog, so y’all can just picture me lying on the grass, waiting for the lady and her chug to walk by :-)
BTW, this character is my main story character's maternal aunt, so they have a family resemblance.
Rendered in March 2022 using Firefly in Poser Pro 11.3 for Mac at 1800 × 2250 pixels. Art effects applied in Painnt. View full size on my blog.

Very pretty render, and I just love the Chug!!! He will be featured in my story too (when I finally get around to it!). Now, would you believe I have a photo of me and my dog just like this one? Exactly the same, lol, we were participating in a Doggy Carnevale (which is when Italians dress up in costumes and masks) and when it was our turn down the runway my friend - who was standing underneath - took a photo. So yes, lying on the grass wold work too, or maybe the sidewalk is on a higher level. Not to mention that I once took photos at a dog show and when I took the photos of the dogs with their owners I would just squat down as much as possible with the camera almost on the ground and shoot upwards. So yeah, anything is possibile. I just love this angle though, and it does make the pupper the main focus of the image.

Thank you so much for the comment and for sending me the photo you took from a similar angle! It's a great way to feature the dog more than the person :-)

Our neighbor years ago had one of them. Even after ten or more years this dog. Barked at you as soon as your nose was out the back door. Nice rendered image.

This is such wonderful work! I love it!

You have done a great job with this scene! Everything looks absolutely perfect! I love this dog too!

Aw, thanks so much! The more I look at the dog, the less I see any Chihuahua in it, but apparently Sparky modeled it after her own Chug, so I'm going to trust that it's in there! Regardless, the dog is so adorable. If I could blend this morph and the Chihuahua I might almost get one of my Chi mixes, but I don't think the morphs blend all that well. Hmm, I wonder if Sparky does morphs on commission?!

Awww beautiful scene!! That is a cool rope you made there.
perpetualrevision
Thanks! I made the rope as a way to test 3DCheapskate's "FreazyPose" script (which he made b/c the original EasyPose script is lost). This one has a fixed piece in the middle and then "easy pose" dials to move the joints along either end, which is helpful for posing it as a leash. But the one end is just tucked into her hand and the other is hidden behind the dog's neck, so it's not an actual "leash." I thought about trying to figure out how to make a leash that would stay attached to the dog's collar and still be easy to pose (possibly even with dynamics), but that may be more of a technical challenge than I'm interested in right now!

Looks really good. Kind of like a painting!

Thanks! I liked this render OK "as is," but I kept thinking I should add flowers or something. Then I tried applying some art effects and that resolved whatever it was I felt was missing! I really dig the effects I get from this particular app :-)

Great postwork effects!

Thank you so much for the comment! I've been looking forward to being able to use all my flowering things for spring renders :-)

Excellent render, look like painted image. Keep up your good work.

I like the angle emphasizing the Chug a lot. Your content may have made it difficult or impossible but if want the picture to be all about the chug, a longer lead and a 2/3 frontal angle with DoF tightened to only give the chug or even it's cute face full sharpness might have given you a bit more emphasis on his canine cuteness.
As it is, really, really cute! =) I'm often on the fence about artistic postwork but I think it works very well here.

Thanks for the tips, Molly! I ended up not using DOF in this one b/c once the camera has been so heavily manipulated, it seems to stop working. When I tried it, I kinda pictured some grumpy man inside of Poser's brains looking down at me with a "Seriously?" expression! But it's possible that a different method of getting this kind of camera angle would've allowed DOF to work better, so there's always next time!

Wonderful day for a walk in the sunlight! Marvelous posing and splendid characters! A most charming creation! Bravo!

Gotta love-a-pug. We had one which sadly passed away a few years back. A very popular dog.
perpetualrevision
Thanks for the comment! The dog does look more like a Pug than a Chihuahua/Pug mix, but as a Chi mix person myself (who's currently serving as a sofa to three), I like to think some of the cuteness comes from the Chi! Apparently Sparky modeled this one after her own Chug, but it'll certainly do as a straight-up Pug. Fun dogs, but sorry to hear about the one you lost.

I think this looks awesome! I love the painted effect here!
