Description
While the Easter festival takes its name from the Nordic spring goddess, Eostre, may of its traditions are more ancient. The practice of decorating eggs, for example, dates back to the Egyptian festival of Shemu when the pharaoh would hang painted eggs in the in temple as a symbol of renewed life. Its still celebrated to this day in Egypt, as Sham-el-nessim, with traditional spring fare of painted boiled eggs, fermented salted mullet (trust me, an acquired taste not for the fainthearted!), lupin beans, lettuce and green onions...

I knew that some Egyptian women were supposed to be very pretty, like Nefertiti but this pretty ? I don't think so...her eyes are a trap ! Thanks for the informations...better late than ever when it comes to learn something !

Not my favorite menu, it would give me diarrhea immediately! But at least she looks more savory!

Indeed... though I do still enjoy lupin beans when I can find them (not so easy in the UK...)

Fantastic work, but you can keep the fermented salted mullet!

Very appealing, like how the light catches the top of the hairpiece. Along with the rich textures this makes it a wonderful scene.

gorgeous render and like RR really like the way the edge lighting frames the character, and a nice history lesson too, didn't know that :)
MollyFootman
Really nicely set up and rendered; it's an unconventional and very effective choice to have the light coming over her shoulder. I also appreciate the history/religion lesson! =)

This is absolutely outstanding, Joe! A magnificent artwork, my friend!
Fascinating history to go along with it as well. I think I might pass on that mullet.. Can I get maple plank roasted salmon instead? LOL
