Description
Gregor loaded Vladlena's carry on into his car and arranged for the rest of her luggage to be delivered to the guest house at the Van Humbeek estate. "So, coffee and a sandwich, Lena?" he asked.
"Fine, Gregor. Just anywhere but Starbuck's. That would remind me of home. I used to go to one around the corner from my apartment in St. Petersburg."
The big man sighed. "Not a problem, little sister. I know just the place. One of my friends works there and it is very comfortable for me. You'll like it."
After parking the car, they moved toward the Independent Coffee Haven. Gregor held the door for his younger sister who pushed the other door open in her own assertive manner. She paused and looked up, tears again glistening but not quite falling. "Gregor, I'm lost. All I have I've left. Everyone here will hate me for what our country is doing!"
Gregor sighed stoically. "Let's have some coffee."
Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 12.0.757 using the Superfly Cycles 2 rendering engine and then tweaked a bit in Photoshop. Vladlena Bubnoff is a character based on the much neglected Bella 1.2 mesh by Ali (get it at his website, Mankahoo). Her big brother Gregor (whom you have met before) is based on L'Homme with morphs and textures by the amazing Tempesta3d . Other figures in the picture include Dawn SE, Project E, Loretta and Lorenzo LoRez, Miki 2, David 3, Judy, Alyson, Rex, Roxie and, of course, the P2 Dork. Not all of the characters are visible in this particular framing but may be visible in some of the other pictures that will likely follow. The setting is by Blue Tree Studio.

Nicely composed scene.
MollyFootman
Thank you, Mazzam. There's still a lot of detail I wanted to add but I thought I was close enough to post it as is. As I KNOW you agree, BlueTreeStudio makes such EXCELLENT settings. =)

Wonderful scene. Makes me want coffee though! LOL
MollyFootman
Heh. Another coffee addict, eh? Good to know I'm not alone! XD
Seriously, thanks for taking a moment to encourage me, Kellie! I really appreciate it! <3

Well, I think they will give her some slack! A most excellent setting for this scene! The characters look great! Bravo! Well done!
MollyFootman
Thanks Rad! As the story goes, there are those who will give Lena and Gregor some slack and those who won't saying they and the other people of Russia allow Putin to remain in power. I have a lot of sympathy for Russians who are fleeing their own country in horror. I try to imagine myself in their shoes. And, their plight is nothing compared to that of the Ukrainians.
As for the scene, I spent even more time tweaking and adding characters to BlueTreeStudio's wonderful setting than I did with the airport. I figure a few more beats of the story will take place here.
I always enjoy hearing from you! =)

free wifi is a good thing for a small shop like this. very natural scene as if it were a photo of the place.
MollyFootman
Wow, Steve! That's a great compliment as I am going for a feeling of "real" here. Thank you! <3
Although I did a lot of tweaking and messing with the setting, the WiFi availability is part of the original content. XD You have to love BlueTreeStudio!

the coffeeshop comes across very well in this render, Molly, and good work on the posing, getting people to sit properly is not easy, at least to do convincingly as is the case here, love the bright sunlight, in fact the sun is shinning here at long last and the winged things are starting to emerge :)
MollyFootman
Thanks, Paul. It reflects some of the better days here in the American Midwest where we have had some bright days with temperatures exceeding 70 degrees F. I spent a lot of time posing the background crowd as I view them as part of the ambiance in the picture. I have to admit I was VERY pleased with how Roxie is sitting.... XD

Poor Vladlena. This is going to be quite an adjustment for her, but I hope the Americans she encounters are sympathetic to the fact that the Russian people didn't start this war, their "president" did. I don't see the man in the black suit, so I can only guess he's lurking just off screen! Nice camera angle, and nice variety of people at the coffee shop! The sunlight looks great too. That's something I still haven't figured out how to do!
MollyFootman
Thanks, Amy. Sunlight I do pretty well... dim light? >.<
The variety of people available to a Poser user "off the shelf" is one of the strengths of the software. If you learn a bit about the fitting room you're gold since legacy content works so well even with state-of-the-art rendering engines.
As for the story, you are correct that the MIB (Man In Black) will be showing up again. In my experience, Americans are a mixed bag regarding nuanced thinking. I expect Vladlena will meet some, like Gregor's friends in Professor Van Humbeek's circle, who will be quite supportive. Others? =(

Awwwww. Wonderful scene. The expression on her face really tells a story.
MollyFootman
Thank you, Annie! =) I really worked a lot to make her distress and the interaction with her brother visible while still using a wide shot to establish the scene. I'm so pleased you were able to discern that! <3

Wonderful scene, impressive atmosphere and lighting, brilliant render. Nobody blames the enslaved russian people for the atrocities the ape has done. They are used to only fuel the ape's pocket, they never existed as beings for the abhorrent ape.
MollyFootman
Very true words, Marius, in my opinion. Without doubt the main Russian to blame isn't the girl fleeing from her home. I'm glad you enjoyed the scene and very glad you engaged with the story, my dear. Thank you very much! <3

A wonderful street scene. The people and poses are all excellent. Citizens rarely have control over what insane governments do.
MollyFootman
Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed the picture. =)
As for people and their governments, it is too often true that a nationality is blamed for what it's government does even though many citizens in no way approve of those actions. In my own country, during WWII, citizens of Japanese and German descent had a rough time (VERY rough for West Coast Japanese). :(

Tempesta3d's products are A#1 as your composition and render

Very well done looking image dear Molly, I just want to upload my Toon image about the closed Backery! Wish you a nice Weekend!

I really got a smile from that Toon image, Ute! Thank you for sharing it! =)

Very well posed and the bright light is a relief as it was a mess here yesterday and today it's garage time. I particularly like the posing of the girl at far right. Peripheral 'toons' often steal the show....
MollyFootman
Oh, I am very proud of the posing of all the "NPC's". That version of posed Roxie was particularly pleasing and I'm ashamed to admit I changed the orientation of the camera from portrait and tight on the protagonists to landscape just to make sure she made it into the image. XD
Thanks for the comment, my dear! =)

Your writing brings these characters to life and i love the way yoy express so much in a sigh and an expression.
MollyFootman
Thank you so much. I have a lot of feeling about these characters and I'm so pleased that you shared in that with me.

Here I like the nice daylight situation, a sunny day.

Thank you, Anne. =)
I find outdoor lighting, especially bright sunlight, pretty easy to do. XD
