Description

The end of the road to Katahdin.. this is an image of the Appalachian Trail on its final leg, through the 100 Mile Wilderness in Maine. As it winds north, it finally crosses into Baxter State Park (marked with blue borders) and ascends Mt. Katahdin. This isn't exactly a Bryce render, but I thought it'd still be of interest It was rendered in POV-Ray using a heightfield. Texture is from a Landsat TM scene (bands 3,2,1 with heavy modifications), trails and border added in PSP. Heightfield created from composite 1:250k USGS DEM files, merged in MicroDEM and converted in Wilbur. Lots of imaging work done in Paint Shop Pro. Let me know what you think! Thanks.
