Description
A while ago I made a scene featuring a Norse shieldmaiden, which Rod commented reminded him of Eowyn, so I thought I would take that and actually make a LOTR illustration based on the same figure; given how influential Tolkien's work has been, I have actually only very rarely attempted to illustrate it.
...so here we have the aforementioned Lady of Rohan in her guise of "Dernhelm" preparing to ride to the Pelennor fields.

Excellent - the greens look appropriate for Rohirrim.

Quality on every level and in every aspect...it's a tall order to illustrate the works of Tolkien.. but you nailed it..one of your best...in my humble opinion.. from a technical side...to visual storytelling...top notch work..!!

Love the scene. Where was the shield from? Love the Rohirrim idea.

Thanks :)
The shield is from the DAZ "Classic shields " set: it originally had a red and white triskele design, so I created a custom green and white mat for it using a Norse horse motif.

great realism!

really like this, it has a great sense of movement and with the DoF makes for a fine image

For me this the best one out of the set, because for me Eowyn is (although I read the books first) allways will look like the actress Miranda Otto. So, since the camera is a bit away in this render, this doesn't get in the way. But the icing on the cake is the modified shield and the cloak.

This is a wonderful dedication image for our dear Rod!
This newer image, as well as all the others, are all very beautiful. Unfortunately, for health reasons I am not able to leave a comment on each one and hope for your understanding.
