These American White Pelicans are waiting at the wharf, while the Western Gulls fly out to welcome the arrival of a fishing boat.

Those greedy gulls, always on the lookout for a free meal! The pelicans are more dignified in their patience :-) Love the way the one in front is gripping the post it's standing on! I don't know much about pelicans, but it looks like their lower jaws expand at will? Lovely ocean backdrop, too!
