Description
Hi everyone.
I started some writing for Barb, but my back and legs make it hard for me to finish it today. I'll post it at a later date. But I wanted to put something up "on the day": Today is Barb's (bakapo) birthday. So I can't let my gallery go blank---I just can't!
The image was an old "abstract flower" which I played with to look like a sunrise coming out of night---like spring coming out of winter. Considering the long winter we've all had, I thought spring should appear like a burst of light...and: Considering that Barb's daughter just got married, a burst of light seemed appropriate!
And I can't post this without saying that Barb's gallery, to me, is an endless journey through magic, mystery, wonderfully suggestive tales, wonderful characters and magical backgrounds, fairies that dwell under flowers, spirits in trees, mythic castles and skies and on and on. And they're all put together with absolute love, and presented to us like a personal gift on a silk-brocaded divan. I just love her work. Her most recent piece---"The Fixer"---is the kind of thing I write about: If you haven't seen it, look. I just love what pours out of her imagination and heart. And....she's also one of the kindest and most supportive people here, and she makes coming here a joy.
Happy birthday, Barb, and lots more! I'll post the tale at a later date, but I'm so happy you had a wedding right around your birthday, and I hope your spring is splendid, and becomes more so with each day. You're a jewel, and I wish you many, many more birthdays in joy, love and inspiration. As my minister friend always says: "Jump up and be blessed!!! Do I hear an amen???" Amen! (You'll have to imagine the chorus---his congregations shout!) Happy Birthday! m

Thank you very much, Mark! I know you're struggling at the moment so this gift is really special. This beautiful rainbow sunrise coming out of darkness is wonderful. The colors are so warm and happy. I love the textures on this, too, sort of like a bit of frost dissolving in the warm sunshine. I also like the fact that this is mostly curving lines so it all seems to flow and bend together like a flower would; it's a sunrise and a flower blending into one new and amazing creation. Thank you so much for this gift and I appreciate your kind words, too. ((hugs))

This is a wonderful burst of light for Barb's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BARB!), and a beautiful and uplifting light in the dark for us all, Mark! May that light continue to shine.
You always manage to get a wonderful flow of color and shape in your stunning abstracts, sir! Always a pleasure to view!
Hope you're doing better, buddy. This "getting old / golden years" thing has been massively over-marketed and over-sold. I want my money back! 😜
