Description
"Slonya" wanted to show off her pretty new spring dress and hat, so I agreed to take her portrait :-)
==AMY’S NOTES==
Kelchris3 and I were trying to track down an old freebie dress for Slon when I got the idea to try putting Vila’s dress on Slon. I used the Fig-to-Prop script to turn the dress into a prop, scaled it a bit, used the morph brush to tighten the straps and arm hole areas, and then ran a dynamics simulation on it (with the dress parented to Slon’s chest). And it worked just fine! The whole process took about 5-6 minutes. In fact, for this pose, I didn’t even need to bother with the simulation. (I also tried using the Fitting Room, but that was not a good solution in this case.)
On the freebie wiki page for the old dress, the image shows Slon also wearing a ladies hat with hair, so that prompted me to go searching through my V4 hair collection to see what might work. I was surprised that a search of my V4 Hair folder revealed only one item (out of 175+) that included a hat, but luckily that one worked out pretty well!

Am taking a little break from the 3D world and other hobbies because my mind is occupied by other things and inspiration has left the room, but I popped in tonight and saw this and it brought a really big smile to my face... so thank you for making my day <3

Thank you, RubyTuesday! I'm so glad it brought a smile to your face :-) I'm sorry to hear that you're taking a break from 3D and hobby stuff, but I understand that sometimes life is like that. The render I posted today should be dedicated to you :-)

I enjoy using Slon from time to time, love what you did with him on outfit to make him look female.

You've done some great scenes with Slon and other Nursoda characters! They never get old :-) Thanks so much for the comment!

Very interesting image.

Did a really good job on the clothing for this character. Always nice when things work out the way you hope. Excellent work!

Thanks so much :-) The method I used helped the dress retain breast shapes, which of course don't really make any sense on a fantasy creature like Slon, but it does lend to the impression that this is a female version of the creature! (The Fitting Room method flattened the breasts into tiny little peaks, which was rather odd!)

Lookin good. Who says it's not easy being green?
perpetualrevision
I suppose it's easier being green when you have a pretty dress and hat to wear :-) Thanks for the comment!

Splendid character, dress and background!

Thanks so much! How nice of Vila to share her wardrobe with Slonya :-)
Radar_rad-dude
Well how very nice of you to take her 'photo!' This turned out quite nicely! Bravo! Well imagined and realized!

Love her dress. Is she heading to brunch? Wonderful work
perpetualrevision
Thanks! How nice of Vila to share her wardrobe, eh? I love how the texture I chose compliments Slonya's skin color! Not every skin tone can wear bright yellow, but green certainly can :-)

She is a masterpiece. Kudos on your fine work.

A great, unique character in the perfect outfit & setting! It was interesting to find out how you developed this!
perpetualrevision
Thanks, Flint_Hawk! I often think I'm going to use clothes made for one figure on another, but then various issues come up in the attempt to convert them. When I started thinking about a dress for Slon, I thought about which other figures might have a similar shape (and also what type of dress would be simplest to make dynamic). And Vila's dress came immediately to mind! It worked better than I expected in part b/c the breast shape didn't get lost in the process (although it is perhaps a bit silly to think that a creature like Slon/ya would have human female breast shapes!) One of these days I'd like to get Marvelous Designer or a similar add-on for Blender so I can make more clothes for Nursoda's folks, but until then, this method has its uses!

Slon looks great in her new dress and I like the color palette in this render. Well done!
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much for the comment! I was delighted to find that texture for her dress as it compliments her skin and provides a nice bright touch for a spring scene! I was also delighted to find a background that worked, as backdrops for portraits like this often flummox me :-)
Karth
Very well done . :) Love the coloring
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much, Karth! I was happy to find a solution that works, although it wouldn't work in a more extreme pose. I love that the texture on her dress compliments her skin tone pretty well!

Slonya looks great here and I took some notes on your ingenious solution to putting her into a colorful Spring dress. XD Thank you for sharing, Amy!

Thanks, Molly! The solution I used does involve dynamics, which I know doesn't always work well for sequential storytelling. But after I did this render I experimented with another option, which was to parent the original figure dress to Slon's chest and then just use the dress's thigh bones to pose the skirt. That worked pretty well, too, esp. if I hid Slon's abdomen (or I could've used the morph brush to bring the dress out a bit).
I've converted other Nursoda clothing items from one of his figures to another using the Fitting Room, but they were closer in shape. In this case, the Fitting Room did strange things to Vila's dress, including shrinking the breast shapes into weird spiky points (which aren't on Slon's chest, so I don't know what that was about!) The Fitting Room is probably the better option for clothing you hope to use more than once, and in a variety of poses, but this was a "one off" :-)

OMG what a funny looking young Lady, she looks really pretty good in her new summerdress! I wish you a nice weekend and a great new week!

Slonya is so pretty!
perpetualrevision
Thanks so much, romangirl! I wouldn't have guessed Slon could look "pretty," until all of this came together :-)
