Description
Osterreichische Galerie Belvedere, Vienne, Autriche.
Marcel Duchamp said that "the viewers make the paintings" to insist on the fact that the meaning of a work does not belong to its creator or to experts, but to the public who encounters it. I start a new series with the concept that "the painting makes the viewer". I take as a subject of study, the behavior, the feeling of the viewer as a mirror of the work. Quite quickly, the metaphor of the pregnant woman came to me, to suggest that art gives life to a part of our interiority. I will place, in each image, this symbolic character of a hyper receptivity, facing an off-screen painting. The blurred background refers to the reverse shot of this painting in the exhibition room as it is presented in Google Arts & Culture / Museum explorer. Accessories and the name of the artist placed on the bra will be additional clues for those who want to discover these paintings much more admirable than my images. Good visit.

Thanks for making me think. What an really good artistic work means to each viewer varies, sometimes slightly, sometimes greatly. As an artist some struggle with it, Duchamp had the right attitude and accepted it. I'll try to do the same.

he also said that the work of art is a rendez-vous. This implies that it takes at least two people, and that this rendez-vous can be as successful as it is missed.

I'd heard of Klimt but was really unfamiliar with his work. I'm thinking his paintings of Sonja Knip drove this image you've shared. Reading about his possible affair with her prior to their marriage had me thinking a lot about passion and art. Thank you for sharing, as usual. I've learned a bit and have enjoyed your image as I usually do. =)

the painting to guess is Klimt's kiss. I love the intimacy it exudes, including the intertwining of its textures.

Je tente? Klimt, "Le Baiser"?

The Belvedere is one of may favourite galleries, not just for its content but the delightful gardens too. The allusion to the kiss is subtle, but the pose and expression convey that connection very well.

I wanted to make you feel the evanescent taste of a kiss that remains on the lips, the warm warmth of an embrace that you have just left
