Description
Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Italie
Marcel Duchamp said that "the viewers make the paintings" to insist on the fact that the meaning of a work does not belong to its creator or to experts, but to the public who encounters it. I start a new series with the concept that "the painting makes the viewer". I take as a subject of study, the behavior, the feeling of the viewer as a mirror of the work. Quite quickly, the metaphor of the pregnant woman came to me, to suggest that art gives life to a part of our interiority. I will place, in each image, this symbolic character of a hyper receptivity, facing an off-screen painting. The blurred background refers to the reverse shot of this painting in the exhibition room as it is presented in Google Arts & Culture / Museum explorer. Accessories and the name of the artist placed on the bra will be additional clues for those who want to discover these paintings much more admirable than my images. Good visit.

I love her expression in this, gazing the shell as if she is about to assume the role of Venus herself...

I wanted this ambiguity where we can imagine that it is the visitor who breaks her water and who herself is about to give birth to Venus to place her in her shell cradle.

La Naissance de Vénus. Tellement de monde dans la salle où elle se trouve que nous l'avons évitée. J'apprécie fortement ta mise en scène!

Merci beaucoup cher Alain

Botticelli was one I was familiar with and the painting that I believe inspired this is well known to me. I love this!
