Description

Continuing my work with lighting and shadow, I put together this sneak peak promo for the second season of my comic. The idea here was to take a single model and add enough minor (super minor) differences to make them not 100% identical. The HDRI provided the majority of the lighting. I added 3 spotlights to create the rest of the look. This included the eye shine. More about those when I get to post production. I wanted to have a bright light behind them. Initially, I intended to use a lens flare but I'm starting to feel like I'm making a Star Trek movie. So I throttled back on that. The way I got the orb created was to do just that. A primitive sphere set WAY out there. I applied an emitter shader then cranked up the light on it. Once I had that, with DOF it looked exactly the way I wanted. Character setup involved modifying their makeup, their eyes are a SLIGHT different color, and the outfits. Handling the skull kept things a little more dynamic. Post production involved enhancing the eyes with some color to make them pop. Then applying filters for color correction and to generate that hazy look. And that's pretty much it.
