Description
Impressed by 3DCheapskate's Candle freebie, I decided to create a Poser Superfly render using 3-types of popular candles, as the title implies. To the tealight, I added an open-ended pipe primitive, sized to fit around the candle, forming an aluminum holding cup. Point lights were attached to each flame and given Blackbody emission nodes set at a Kelvin temperature of 1900 degrees, the type of light emitted by real candlelight. Each of those lights was set to Inverse Square attenuation for a realistic light dropoff. The faerie is Miki 4.

The candle flames and lighting look great, and I love the scene you put together for them, but wouldn't the top portion of the candle wax be a bit more translucent?

That would be true. Two methods to correct this would be to move the point lights closer to the surface of the wax and increase the subsurface scatter. These wicks are a little too long, and well-maintained candles have shorter wicks to minimize smokiness.
