Description
After Joachim Patinir.
I wanted to capture the threadbare theme of the pin-up. This time, these women are taking their ascent into their own hands to escape, with more or less success, from the male gaze. The characterization of each is to be placed in relation to the image of the mountain borrowed from the history of art. This mountain, which is difficult to reach, at least by sight, is that of the place that men have granted themselves. At the turn of these 10 images, I give the female characters different postures, between insurance and endangerment, thus testifying that their reconquest of spaces is still today, a risk-taking.

Marvellous multi-layered work. The use of the cruciform pose, the allusion to Mary from the colours of the dress, and the reference to St.Jerome's views on how Christian women should live is adroitly done.

I confirm that you are my best reader. Thank you very much.

Great pose looks very natural.

I was inspired in most cases by real climbing poses. Here, I modified it so that it evokes more the crucifixion.

It seems to me she is longing for real climbing rocks because of her looking direction. But just her clothing is a little bit unpractical for climing sports. How good that she only climbs up pin nails :-)

there is often a part of the surreal in my images. a certain degree of realism, is only the first step to enter the escalation of the meaning of my images.

I love the idea behind your project and am all in favor of encouraging women to escape the male gaze and "reconquest" the spaces of power and privilege long claimed by men! My initial reading wasn't as astute as JoeJarrah's, but I love his interpretation :-) Interesting concept, nicely executed!

Interesting. Not a great way to climb.

You're right. Thank you very much

Oh yes, it is a mixture of realism and surrealism in it, it is very thrilling!

Another I love for many of the same reasons. I found Joachim Patinir's St. Jerome in the desert and then looked up St. Jerome. I can see that Jerome's ideas about a pure life didn't make things easy for the women who believed in his ideas. I learned much and enjoyed viewing the picture even without all that I've learned.

Joe Jarrah est non seulement un gars très cultivé, mais aussi un grand déchiffrerur de symboles!
marcopol
C'est très juste :)

I also love your idea to show the difficult ascent of women :-) Its difficult but worth it!
