Description

You know, it’s amazing the things one finds when one starts digging through stuff that’s been sitting in boxes, stacked on closet shelves, tucked away in folders, etc, etc. Back in the early ‘90s I was playing around with airbrushing. Although I never felt like I was creating stuff that was all that great, a few folks saw some of my pieces I was doing just for fun and liked them. The brother of one of the guys I worked with was publishing a “New Age” targeted magazine in the Kansas City area. He saw some of my stuff and asked if I’d be willing to do a cover. It wouldn’t pay much (forgot what I got but it wasn’t much), but it would help give me some exposure. I said “Sure,” and this was the result. I was never too satisfied with it, but he loved it. He wanted the man’s figure to be transparent so you could see all the environmental problems through him. I actually went out and took a reference photo of a bulldozer for the trash pit behind the figure. Anyway, I just thought I’d toss this up here for giggles. I think I like 3D a lot better than airbrushing. LOL Still lots of stuff going on here. Jo’s brother is still in the hospital, and things are touch-and-go at the moment. He contracted pneumonia a day or so after he came out of ICU. He’s doing better now, but he’s still not out of the woods. It’s still pretty stressful here. I’m still working on thinning out the massive amount of stuff here (hence the discovery of this old magazine), and they’re getting to know me on a first-name basis at the local recycling center. I think I’m working harder and driving more now than when I was working. Yes, I’m slowly putting some things together for the next page in the TNA adventure. There will be some tie-ins with Jim’s Annette story that will be fun! Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well, staying safe, and relaxing with some art. Thanks for stopping by, and for all your awesome support! You all keep me going during all this insanity. Rod's Lair Official Girls From T.N.A. Website Rod's Blog Facebook Twitter Girls From T.N.A. A lot of clever intuition was put into the remarkable art Tod! Excellent Sir! Hope your friend recovers! PLUS you are getting nearer to leaving that awful man behind!

Wow...you are quite the talented artist in so many ways, this cover art you did is so well done and looks fantastic! The magazine could have been easily released this year with the topics listed in the front cover...sadly not much has changed with passing of time. Best wishes for your brother-in-law's recovery...may you soon find that level of tranquility and peace that you so well deserve Rod. :-)

A most brilliant Masterpiece of Finest Arts and definitely an accurate peek into the future, done more than three decades ago.
Amazing brilliance and creativity, mind-bending magic this is, dear Sir Rod!

I've just read of your brother-in-law's condition, so it's not easy to share levity about this upload, but it's wonderful to see your old work, and your design sense from 32 years ago. I love the cover, and how you mixed industry and tree stumps and garbage and that tractor and the dump, etc. You brought home the feeling of your subject immediately (and it's fun to see all that you did by hand, and with an airbrush). I used airbrush years ago, and it was awful...but you seem to have been wholly comfortable with it. I love the transparent guy too. Well sir, you've joined ranks with Steve as a cover guy...thanks for posting this. It's great fun. And again Rod, I wish your brother-in-law all the peace in the universe, and I wish you and jo great comfort and peace, and the same for his loved ones. I'm very sorry that all this has happened---take care, much healing to all of you, and come back only when you're rested and able.

I am sorry to hear your Brother in Law is still in danger.
This cover could be used today... no progress has been made on any of these issues.

I never could get into airbrushing but you definitely not lacking in that talent. Looking ahead in your gallery you have my sympathies for your family losing family isn't easy.

An excellent cover, even if the subject material is depressing. Your magazine covers are always impressive.
