Description
After Frederick Arthur Bridgman.
After climbing with pins, it's time for the descent. The contemplation of paintings presenting card players suggested to me a kind of slide which would materialize the trajectory of the card held in the raised hand until it is placed on the gaming table. This time the allegorical model of the viewer is initially jostled, and exposed in her inability to appreciate the vision of the paintings. Many genre scenes featuring card players show ambiguous relationships between men and women, some based on domination, at least through the gaze. After the pivot point of the fall, I propose the reconstruction of another look articulated to an evolution in the choice of paintings. As before, several evolutionary processes punctuate this sequence of 20 images; To you to discover them.

A fascinating series with much to ponder. What appealed to me most, viewing them all en suite, was the seeing the change of demeanour of the subject, form seeming glee like that of a child on a playground slide, to concern, to disgruntlement as she hit the ground with a bump, then dusting herself off and regally ascending; not coincidentally ending on the Royal Flush.
Also a fascinating selection of paintings, many of which were new to me; I was half expecting to see Cezanne or de Lempicka ...or even Coolidge's dogs... along the way, so it was educational to see unfamiliar works instead.

Thank you very much for this very insightful comment, as usual. I had indeed spotted Cézanne and Toulouse-Lautrec, for example, but at the sight of the more unknown works, I preferred to choose cross roads, rather than the highways of art history.

Thank you, dear fellow, for such an enjoyable series. As always, I have been exposed to art I did not know existed and very much enjoyed the experience. I love seeing our contemporary woman crowned and sitting atop an unbeatable royal flush. =)
I enjoyed perusing the work of Frederick Arthur Bridgman beyond "The Card Players"; it has a sharp, exotic look I really enjoyed. Many of the pictures are from a place unfamiliar to me; Algiers, I think.
Thank you again for bringing me much enjoyment!

I am very flattered by the fidelity with which you nourish your curiosity through the mediation of my work, and by the care you bring to your reports of reading images. The young woman, who in my eyes has become Queen of Hearts, is at the height of her power, yet instead of abusing it, she takes the time to enjoy a tea and no doubt to meditate on her future life like the group of women in the orientalist painting.
