Description
Kate is up early to work on her writing projects, and after a few hours Oliver, her son, wakes up so she brings him downstairs and sits him at her desk.
Alice phones for a chat and Kate invites her to join Oliver and her on a shopping trip to Mettleham town centre where she intends to spend the birthday money she received from her parents on something nice for her and her little boy.
Either that, or simply put it in her bank account to help out financially.
Kate might feel awkward about how much money she received from her parents, but it is money after all and, regardless of where it came from, it will still keep her afloat until her next writing contract is completed or one of her novels is a success.

Kate's expression looks a little worried, but maybe she's just got a lot on her mind as she talks to her friend. Cute and believable pose of the baby playing with mama's hand!

Thanks! It's the weight of the birthday money from her parents. Once it is spent (or in her bank account) then it will feel like she has accepted or granted whatever they feel the money is buying (forgiveness? reconciliation? easing their guilt?).
