Description
Since the beginning I want to have a more original look for Mindelmar, but even if I can create some things myself, not being an architect nor a fashion designer (and being kind of lazy), it has been difficult to acheive this (I have some ideas on how I would like things to look, but it's pretty blurry). But rereading a french comics, called "L'Epée de Cristal", the other day, I found some outfit designs, that have inspired me for the dwarves. So, I put some thoughts to it and did some sketches.
As a strong people, I think they would wear tight clothes that would highlight their musculature, even the women. I think they should wear mostly leather, since they live underground and don't have crops. Although, there are some plants growing underground, so maybe they can make some clothes with these too, but not a lot. Most of the fabric they have (outside of leather) comes from trade.
Different castes would wear different clothes. A warrior, even in his civilian clothes, would wear different clothes than a merchant, or a smith. This way, you can recognise who is what just by looking at what a person is wearing. Etc, etc...
So, about the picture, this is a first attempt at what a dwarven warrior could look like. Be aware that this is just a first draft and that a lot can change.
A lot of kitbash here, except the vest that I did myself. It was not really visible in the viewport, but seeing them in the render, I realise how ugly some of these textures look...
About the vest, there is still some work to put in it, but I think it's not too bad for a first try (actaully it's the third =p ). It does not look as thick as what I had in mind. I will need to add the buttons/brooches separately, using a "rigid body", because the "Fit to" creates too much deformations.
I like it, but I am still hesitant about the hat. Maybe I should give it to another caste.
There is probably more to say, but I will stop here.
I'll just add that the next storyline picture is started and should not take too long to be finished. :)
