“Thank you child. Where is the planetary administrator?”
“Administrator Kufta sends word that he received your message, and he will meet with you at your pleasure. Also that suitable quarters have been prepared. I am to conduct you to them, or to wherever else you wish to go.”
“In that case, conduct me to Administrator Kufta. My business with him will not wait.”
“Yes honored mother. If you come with me, I will take you to him now.”
In the 36th century, the Kingdom of Heshou rules seven star systems. In truth, however, the king is merely a figurehead; the real power is in the hands of the technician-priests who attend the Oracle, an advanced strategic planning computer left over from the collapse of the Colowonian Empire some two centuries earlier. In this picture, Revered Matron Nali Tria, a senior attendant to the Oracle, has just arrived at the planet Orlando, carrying a message from the Oracle for the planetary administrator.
