Description
It was getting dark outside now. She reached out and pulled the curtains across the window.
Strange, she thought, there’s something odd, other-wordly about this room, about the way I feel – it’s as if I’m here, and not here, at the same time.
And there’s Kagran, just sitting on the settee, silent, away somewhere where no-one can follow him.
She gazed at Kagran, and a warmth flowed through her; why, she thought, he’s really quite attractive –and, but – where am I going?
Kagran looked up at her and smiled, and suddenly he was the only man in the world for her, she loved him and him alone and had always loved him.
“Kagran,” she said, making her way over to him, “tell me, Kagran, who do you love?”
He did not answer her, and she, smiling broadly, sat herself next to him,. “Kagran,” she repeated, gazing into his eyes, “do you think you love me, Kagran?”
Without waiting for an answer she snuggled up to him, her head on his chest, and shut her eyes. Apart from the fact that she did not love Kagran and belonged in another world, did she really expect an answer, she wondered, from a man who loved only the Goddess?
And then he laughed.
It was not a kind laugh; there was an edge to it that shook her, cut through her thoughts and she thought – no, this isn’t right – I’m married, and I love my husband, and –
“Perhaps now you understand just how much power I have, Sarah Jane,” said Kagran; there was a bitter tone in his voice. “I can make you or any girl in the world utterly convinced she is in love with me; such is my power.”
“But,” she said “what use is that?”
“None at all; an enchanted lover is just that – enchanted, her will overpowered by mine, no longer her own mistress. And the only true love is the one who loves of her own accord.”
He became silent again, staring into space.
“But you love someone,” she said.
There was no answer, Kagran sat still, now staring up at the ceiling, deep in thought.
“You are a great fool Kagran,” she whispered, “sitting there, dreaming of an insubstantial, imaginary superbeing, when you could simply reach out and hold a solid, real, ordinary but very loving mortal girl. What is the matter with you?”
Kagran shrugged, but said nothing.

Very good illustration of your story text. I like the clean lighting and rendering style with striking color saturation in this one. =)

A very deep and profound dilemma for Kagran! He sounds terminally bored with his existence and is searching for meaning? Another most excellent and intriguing chapter to this story, my friend! I wonder what will happen next? A fine illustration too! Many fine praises from me to you on both mediums!

These selections are from a longish tale. slightly amended after several years, and I'm just concentrating on one area for the moment.
