On March 24 2019 at Victoria Regional Airport in Victoria, Texas a 2005 Ford GT broke a record for a standing mile making it the fastest street legal production car. There are faster cars out there but for now a Ford GT is number one. It's speed was 300.4 mph. The car is owned by M2K Motorsports out of Katy, Texas. The number 300 is the current record. The 2006 Ford GT shown in the image is owned by North Engineering and Motorsports and will attempt to break this record. This Ford GT has a rear spoiler which the 2017 model is equipped with. The twin drag chutes are absolutely necessary. Without them and relying on the brakes alone to slow the car down, you would not have any brakes left and you would still be going over 100 mph. Doesn't matter who makes the brakes, they won't do the job alone... Anyway, this 2006 Ford GT is a fantasy version but someday another Ford GT will break the current record.
