Description

New race in the wold of Mindelmar and this is the race of the Siren. Few days ago I was thinking on the fact that my High Elf character, Erana, was nicknamed "The Siren" because of her beautiful and enchanting voice. Her nickname means that Sirens are a thing in the world, but I had never thought about them until now. First I had to decide if they were sentient creatures or more like animal like creatures and I went for sentient creatures for lore reasons. The twins, Ann and Mina, the Sun God and the Moon Goddess, have created the Gold Elves to have creatures capable to witness the beauty of the world, compared to animals who lives on it but aren't capable to see its beauty. LaĆ¼ve, the Earth Goddess, sad that nobody could see the beauty of the underground, Gold Elves preferring the outside world, has created the dwarves in consequence. So I have thought the next logical step would be to have Lulil, Goddess of all Waters to create the Sirens to witness the beauty of the undersea. What about the creation of the Humans, Orcs, Goblins and others, you may ask, well it might be for another day. ;) I haven't decided yet if primordial Sirens are immortal like the Elves or not, but they can at least live several hundreds years. It's a race exclusively feminine, but compared to the other races, they can reproduce with others and that's why they sometime enchant men with their chant. They don't hesitate to cause shipwrecks for obtaining the men they need to reproduce. Some stories say they also eat the men they capture. Are they just stories ? I won't say. Some stories also talk about Sirens rescaping castaways and bringing them to land. So maybe you have, like with Humans, good Sirens and bad Sirens. Sirens live in the oceans and the seas but also in deep lakes or even some in very large rivers. They sometime adventure in smaller waters. They live usually in cities that they built. They are capable to breath at the surface. I've said they were enchanting men, but by men I mean males. They can be human, elf, dwarf, orc, goblin or whatever. I think depending of which race the male is, the baby will have different attribute. For exemple, if a Siren is born from an Orc, she will be big and strong and aggressive and won't live very long, where if she is born from an Elf, she will be thin, graceful, intelligent and could live at least thousands of years. I think I could say more, but I will stop here. Even if I have been inspired by "real" stories of Sirens, I have added my own spin on it, so I hope you find my concept interesting. :)
