It amuses me that the expressions of the singers in the painting are not far from the intense expressions I am used to seeing on the faces of contemporary musicians like the young lad with the guitar in the foreground. Thanks for sharing, my dear!

Apologies for taking so long to respond. I'm touched by the dedication as well as delighted by the image. I grew up with the Costa painting; my sister had a poster of it on her wall, and I have had the pleasure of seeing the original numerous times at the National Gallery. I particularly like how the "cantare a libro" has become rock'n'roll, with the elegant retro twist of the Gretsch and the Vox super-beatle... (great sonic combo - I can almost hear it!). I also love how the slant of the painting turns the signing faces to expressions of shock, as if the old-timers don't completely approve of the raucous youth! Wonderfully light-hearted image, something we could all use more of in these times!

I admit that what I would miss are your comments, always so relevant and so refined. But I assure you, just like for Mozart, the silence that follows one of your comments is still a part of you. So it's also true in my eyes when I dedicate an image to you, and your silence comes first. I started a series of works located at the National Gallery, because I spent a few romantic days with my wife in London during the last vacation. How good it feels to see these works, and to stroll through the spaces of this magnificent city!
