Description

"I like it, Mom. How fast do you reckon it'll do?" "Depends on how reckless the driver is, I would think." What I wrote about these two 10 years ago: Doctor Delia Primrose is a scientist that worked in weapons development for DynaMatrix Corporation. She retired after being injured during botched attempt by a rival firm at stealing her work. The settlements for her injuries along with her already substantial fortune allowed her to set up a private laboratory. She was joined by her daughter, Madeline, who left the police force to function as the executor of her mother's sense of justice creating with her the alter ego of NightFall. The relationship between Mother and Daughter is not a comfortable one; they don't always see eye to eye regarding methods and the substance of vigilante justice. Molly's art notes: Set up originally in Poser Pro 2014 and then rendered after some texture tweaking and changes in the costuming mesh in Poser 13.0.287 using Superfly. Both Madelaine (the vigilante Nightfall) and her mother, Delia, are based on the wonderful Dawn SE mesh. In this updating, I've made Nightfall appear a bit younger and her mother appear a bit older. I see Maddie as in her late 20's and Delia as around 60. The graphic novel story I did back in 2013 can be found here: Nightfall, Issue 1

Some slight fine tuning to the generation gap sounds like it might be in order? Very interesting and well formed characters here, Molly! Another arc for you to explore? Should be interesting! Has a fine beginning here!

Generation gap? Hmmm. Yeah, Maddie probably needs to be more like early 30's for it to work. I had my first child at age 32 and second at age 34 so I see things a bit differently from most who have their children a when a bit younger than that.

I don't know how far I'll go with this. The link above leads to a story that ran quite awhile 10 years ago. I long to finish it but I have some problems with content that I was using then. That is rarely a problem with Poser because it has such excellent backward compatibility. The issue is with DSON importation of DAZ content.... >.<

Anyhow, thanks for a thought-provoking and encouraging comment! =)

Nice work on this one. The lighting gives that graphic novel look. And nice choice of angel, I was wondering? For the main white light, is that a spot or area light you used? It took me a long time to really understand the strengths and weaknesses of each light in Poser. This is one reason I post my work to show what can be accomplished with Poser still. I am still learning as I go but great work here.

I am still learning, too. The white light in the foreground is a point light using inverse square decay. I don't use spotlights much and am certainly in love with the area light but I find when I am looking for contrast between light and shadow the point light does a great job. The only other light is a point light of purplish color in the upper background. I wanted some visibility. I've done a lot of reading about use of lights in photography and in 3D programs and I still often don't get it right.

Thanks for your kind words. I should probably post my original effort at this image from 2013 using Firefly. I think the difference is striking. Poser is a wonderful tool but you have to be willing to push the envelope. Heck. I've hardly scratched the surface with animation and I'm only just getting into the wonders of dynamic cloth! XD

Nice damatic lighting and good point of view. If the two can get along, I bet they'd be a good team.

Thanks for your comment. I like to think that the tension between a mother and her daughter can always eventually resolve for the best. For these two, there is the problem of their choice in life to pursue vigilante justice. I had done one fairly long story featuring them at Deviant Art some 10 years ago. Perhaps it's time for another try. ;-)

Due to circumstances, I have been away from the galleries for almost 28 days and I have not been able to make any comments on your artworks. Now I am here to look at all the beautiful images you have created during this time. They are all beautifully done, now I'll just leave a comment at this one and I also hope to see you again in my little video gallery.

Classic Molly!

Always drawn to characters with definitive pasts that set them apart, though the tough part is avoiding tropes.

This scene and story works for me :)

Thanks, JD. Of course, there are easy parallels to draw with DC comics characters like Batgirl and Oracle but I did come up with these characters before the famous story "The Killing Joke" that put Barbara Gordon in a wheelchair and opened up the Batgirl job for Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown (listen to me, I sound like my comic book geek friend in Second Life, Penny York! XD ).

I really liked the mother/daughter angle and played a lot with it in the one story that I started over at DA. =)
